Common questions after onboarding

This is a collection of the most commonly asked questions that people have when getting familiar with how Astra works.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

After onboarding, if you still have any questions, please check this article.

How to control my spending?

You can specify a target daily budget for every strategy, more details are here.

When can I adjust the ACOS target?

Once your ACOS stabilizes around your target, you can make further adjustments. ACOS target adjustments should be small and you should at least wait for 4-7 days to change the ACOS target again. If newly switching to the ACOS algorithm, set an initial target at par or close to the historical ACOS of the ASINs included in your strategy.

Should I pause my existing campaigns?

Yes, all your existing campaigns promoting the products that are being in your Astra strategies should be paused. If you have any conflicting non-Astra campaigns, they could be limiting your Astra spend as they could be competing over the same targets. To avoid any sudden drops in spend as you transition, I’d recommend gradually pausing your conflicting campaigns as Astra's campaigns populate inside your Amazon Campaign Manager.

What to do when launching a product?

  1. Start with a Strategy + Constant Bid Algorithm:
Use the Constant Bid Algorithm and set a competitive suggested bid to drive initial traffic and engagement.

  2. Monitor & Adjust your Suggested Bid:
Gradually adjust your suggested bid until engagement/performance improves.

  3. Switch to ACOS or Budget Optimization:
Once you hit 5–10 ad sales per week, switch to either the ACOS Algorithm or the Monthly Budget Algorithm to let Astra shift into optimization mode.

  4. Speed Up Astra’s Learning (Optional but Recommended):
Give Astra a head start by adding a seed list of initial keywords and/or competitor ASINs to guide targeting.

    Here's how:

    • Open the sidebar and click “Catalog”

    • Locate the Seed column

    • In the corresponding row for your ASIN, input your keyword list or competitor ASINs

When are campaigns created in Seller Central?

When you create a strategy or make any changes in Astra, they are reflected on Amazon between 4am and 8am PST every day. As such, your changes will go live accordingly. You can see how much time until your change will be implemented inside your strategy pages.

Should you want to push your campaigns changes more immediately, you can do the following:

  1. Open the side bar and Click on "settings" in the bottom left corner of the screen

  2. Click on Accounts

  3. Click on the Push Updates Button denoted by the cloud icon on the right hand side. This will push your Astra changes through to Amazon within 1 to 2 hours.

How are the campaign's budgets managed?

Astra’s algorithm automatically adjusts your daily campaign budgets based on performance and spend behavior. It increases or decreases the budget allocation for each campaign in real time to maximize results.

When you set a strategy-level budget, Astra distributes that amount across the 1–4 campaigns created under that strategy.

Tips for Budget Setting:

  • Set a higher strategy-level budget to give Astra more flexibility and room to scale.

  • You likely won’t spend the full amount, but a higher budget signals a stronger “willingness to spend” to Amazon’s system — which can lead to more impressions and faster growth.

I’ve made my strategies in Astra, but they aren’t live in Amazon?

Campaign creation as well as changes made within Astra are reflected on Amazon between 4am and 8am PST every day. As such, your changes will go live accordingly. You can see this inside each your strategy pages.

How to promote my products in new countries?

Astra manages PPC across all the countries but will need some data to start from. You should be creating manually some campaigns to generate a minimum of 20 sponsored sales before activating a strategy.

Why are some of my ASINs not getting any traffic?

If you're using the Constant Bid Algorithm, it's likely because your bid is too low to win impressions.
If you're using the ACOS Algorithm, your ACOS target may be set too low, causing the algorithm to lower bids and limit traffic in an effort to stay within your target.

To fix this:

  • Adjust your ACOS target closer to your current ACOS (e.g., if you're at 50%, set your target near that).

  • Gradually reduce your ACOS target by 2–5% every 4–7 days.

  • (Optional) Set a minimum daily spend in Advanced Settings to keep campaigns running while optimizing.

This helps Astra rebuild momentum and balance performance with your goals.

How should products be grouped in different strategies?

It can be based on product lifecycle, margin, or category. More details here.

Can I change parameters directly on my strategies' campaigns?

No, it can disturb the machine learning process. Moreover, changes made manually on the Amazon advertising console will be overwritten the next day by our algorithm.

I launched Sponsored Brand strategies 2 days ago but I can't see them.

Sponsored brand strategies' (including Video Ads, Product Collection Ads, and Storefront Ads) campaigns require approval from Amazon before they can go live.

This is because Sponsored Brand ads often include custom creatives, which Amazon reviews to ensure they meet policy guidelines.

What to expect:

  • Your campaigns are in Amazon’s approval queue, which may take a few days.

  • If a campaign is not approved, Astra will automatically re-submit it until it gets approved — no action needed on your end.

So hang tight — once approved, the campaigns will start running and appear in your dashboard.

Why Am I seeing $0.02/lower bids in Amazon Ads Manager?

$0.02 is not your actual bid. If you go to Amazon Campaign Manager -> Select the campaign -> Select an ad Group -> Click on Targeting, you should see your actual bids being reflected. Let me know if that is not the case.

As far as how Astra's bid system works, Astra applies strategic 200% placement bid modifiers to maximize ad efficiency. For example, If Astra wants to set a bid to $1.50, you should see a $0.50 base bid in amazon's ad manager with a 200% multiplier, effectively making your actual bid $1.50. You'll see this 200% multiplier on "Top of Search" and "Rest of Search" placements and not on "product page" placements. Product page placements for your keyword campaigns causes search terms to appear on product pages, creating overlap with your product targeting campaigns (leading to inefficiencies). Astra's automated placement ensures keyword targeting focuses on search results while product targeting focuses on product pages, eliminating overlap, improving the data it collects, and maximizing performance.

If you go to Amazon Campaign Manager -> Select the campaign -> Select an ad Group -> Click on Targeting, you should see these respective bids being reflected. Let me know if that is not the case.

If once you’ve done that, and you see the bids reflected are still not where they should be, the likely reason you're seeing this happen is because Astra has a default safeguard in place that caps max bids at $2.50 to prevent accidental overbidding. That said, You can absolutely increase the Max Bid on your own:

To Increase your Max Bid:

  1. Open the Left Side Bar and Click on "Settings" in the bottom left corner

  2. Click on Accounts

  3. Click on the "more actions" Button denoted by the three dots on the right hand side. (See below)

  4. Click on Update Max Bid

Why do my Astra Sales look different then what Amazon is reporting for my Sales on some days?

The difference comes from how promotional fees are accounted for. Astra displays net sales after deducting fees from promotions (e.g., coupon fees, Lightning Deal Fee, etc.).

Why Can't I activate TOSRO in certain instances and are receiving the error message

This is because TOSRO can only be activated for a strategy with at least one EXACT keyword targeting. If it's only Phrase Keyword targets, it won't work. Double check your strategy and make sure you've included exact keywords.

Can I change the name of the Astra-generated campaigns in my advertising console?

No, you should not change the name of the Astra-generated campaigns, otherwise, the tool will not recognize the campaign as one of its own and it will stop optimizing the campaign.

How can I change the billing owner for my account?

You can not change it using the dashboard. To change the billing owner of an account, the current billing owner needs to mail us at hello@sellrbox.com with the required information (Name, Email Id, Contact number) of the new billing owner. Then we will change it for you from the backend.
