Global course settings of Designer

Configure standards that apply to all courses using the Designer format and defaults that apply to newly created instances.

You find the global course settings for Designer in Site administration > Plugins > Course formats > Designer Format > General settings and then in the tab Course.

There are two types of settings here:

  • Standard global settings โ€“ These affect all course instances immediately. Displayed bold and include an explanation of the setting.

  • Default settings โ€“ These apply only to instances created after the default is set. They can:

    • be marked as advanced, which hides them behind the โ€œShow more...โ€ link in the instance settings.

    • be changed later at course level.


Available settings

  • Course type

  • Display activities in popups

  • Add navigation links

  • Flow animation

  • Flow size

  • Accordion

  • Initial state

  • List width

  • Course index visibility

  • Add course to secondary menu item on all course pages

  • Display unavailable activities (Pro only)

  • Activity display mode (Pro only)

  • Extended progress bar

  • Course progress (Pro only)

  • Display checkmark upon course completion (Pro only)

  • Calculation of course progress (Pro only)

Course prerequisites (Pro only)

  • Display course prerequisites

Course background

  • Course background image

  • Course background color

  • Role for automatically enrolled students (Pro only, belongs to prerequisites settings)

    Specify the role that will be assigned to students who are automatically enrolled in the prerequisite course.

Course fields icons

For each configured course field you can add a unique icon. You can either type the icon directly in the text field or click the text field to open a modal window and select an icon. This icon is displayed next to the course field information when configured in the course header settings.
