Overview of all global settings in Dash

Manage site–wide configurations, widget defaults, and data sources for your blocks

About

The global settings for Dash allow site administrators to control the behavior, appearance, and data sources for all blocks across the Moodle site. These settings are divided between general dashboard management, widget–specific defaults, and addon configurations.

Note: The available settings depends on your installed Dash tier and global addons configuration.

Available settings

The configurations are located in two main areas of the Moodle site administration.

Dash blocks configuration

This section covers the core settings for the Dash block itself:

  • Dash – Configure general block behavior, theme compatibility, and site–wide display defaults.

Dash local plugin settings

These settings are categorized to help you manage dashboards, set defaults for widgets and data sources, and access the developer addon.

General management

  • General settings – Define site–wide behaviors, such as course image handling and navigation redirects.

  • Manage dashboards – Create, edit, and organize multiple custom pages across your site.

  • Manage addons – Enable or disable specific Dash data sources, widgets, and functional components.

Widget and data source configurations

These settings define the default behavior and resource availability for individual components:

Developer tools

  • Addon: Developer – Access advanced tools for custom data source and bespoke layout creation.
