What Are Sponsored Challenges?
Sponsored Challenges are organization-wide challenges created by BetterYou for your company or school. These challenges are designed to support important health and wellness concepts like Mental Health Month (May), Worldwide Day of Sleep (March), and other seasonal wellness initiatives.
π Getting Started
Notifications: If your company or school is running a challenge, you should receive a notification prior to its start. Once the challenge has begun, you'll see it appear in the
Community tab under the "Sponsored Challenges" section.
Participation Requirements: You will only be able to participate in the challenge if you have the corresponding goal set and the right permissions. However, the challenge will still appear on your Community page even if you do not have it set, giving you the opportunity to set a goal and join in.

If you click into the challenge, a detailed page will open with comprehensive information:

Goal Types
We currently support Sleep and Steps challenges within the app. The type of challenge will be clearly indicated with an icon and description.
Team vs Individual
Team: Sign up to compete with a team! Your organization may run a team challenge, where you can sign up with a team and compete together. Before the challenge, your challenge director will give you info on how to get into teams and join them. Each company may have slightly different steps, so pay attention to your communications!
Individual: Compete against others on your own merit! Our individual challenges may ask you to max out over the course of the challenge and get the most steps or good nights of sleep possible, or they may ask you to beat your own usual scores.
If it's set up for you to beat your own usual scores, it will work like this:
For Steps Challenges: Your goal is calculated by taking the average number of steps you've achieved for a period preceding the challenge and increasing it by a relatively small percentage. For example, if your average daily steps total 4,000 per day, a goal of 4,400 per day may be set for you. This number is multiplied by the number of days the challenge will run to get your target goal.
βFor Sleep Challenges: Your goal is calculated by taking the number of days you typically hit your sleep goal and increasing it by one. For example, if you manage to hit your personal sleep goal 4 out of 7 days, your goal will be to hit your goal 5 out of 7 days for a week-long challenge.
Your progress is depicted and updated in real-time as the challenge progresses.
Community Goal
The goal for your entire organization is a sum of all goals of the individuals participating. This appears at the top of the screen along with a progress dial that shows how you're doing collectively as you work toward your individual goals. This goal may shift if more people set up a sleep or steps goal during the challenge.
Duration
The dates that the challenge will run are listed beneath the group goal. Challenges run from midnight to midnight on the dates listed.
Community Progress Board
Labeled "Community Progress", this board is where you can see the progress of people in your community who are participating and how your personal progress stacks up compared to their individual progress!
Privacy Settings: Toggle the "share name" switch to set your profile public or private. We've numbered the list to help everyone see how many people have hit their goal and how many still need some encouragement.
Progress Tracking: View real-time progress updates, leaderboards, and team performance metrics.
Prizes and Rewards
Perhaps the coolest part about how these challenges run is that you're NOT competing for the most steps or sleep - it's that you're encouraged to hit a goal that's just a slight reach for yourself!
BetterBolts Rewards: Top performers and participants may be eligible for BetterBolts that can be redeemed for gift cards and other rewards! Rewards and prizes are dependent on your organization's BetterYou contract and specific challenge agreements. Some challenges do not have additional rewards or prizes.
Winner Selection: In most cases, prize winners are picked by random draw from the members who hit 100% of their individual challenge goal. This may vary depending on the organization's contract or setup.
