Shipping profiles let you apply different shipping rules to different products on the same order form.
Most sellers can start with the General profile. Add custom profiles only when a group of products needs its own shipping setup.
General Profile
The General profile applies to all products that are not assigned to a custom profile.
Use the General profile for your standard shipping setup. For example, if most products ship at the same domestic and international rates, keep those products in General.
You can edit but not delete the General profile.
Custom Profiles
Create a custom profile when specific products or variants need different zones, rates, handling fees, or shipment behavior.
For example:
A heavy hardcover that costs more to ship.
A boxed set that needs a separate parcel.
A limited edition with special packaging.
A product available only in certain countries.
A variant that has a different weight from the standard product.
How to Create a Shipping Profile
From your Seller Portal, open the order form you want to edit.
Go to Shipping.
In Custom shipping rates, select Create new profile.
Enter a profile name.
Optional: add a description to remind yourself when this profile should be used.
Choose whether products in this profile should ship with other items or create their own shipment.
Optional: add a handling fee.
Select Save.
After creating the profile, add products and set up zones and rates for it.
How to Assign Products To a Custom Profile
Open the custom profile.
In the Products section, select Add products or Manage products.
Search for products, variants, or SKUs.
Select the products or variants that should use this profile.
Select Save Assignments.
Products assigned to a custom profile use that profile's zones and rates at checkout.
Assigning Variants
If a product has variants, you can assign the whole product or only selected variants.
Use variant assignment when only one format, edition, or version needs different shipping. For example, a paperback and hardcover can use different profiles if their weights or packaging needs are different.
How to Remove Products From a Profile
Removing a product from a custom profile returns it to the General profile.
Open the custom profile.
Find the product in the Products section.
Select the remove icon.
Confirm the product should no longer use that profile.
Best Practices For Profiles
Keep most products in General unless they truly need different shipping.
Give custom profiles clear names, such as "Hardcovers", "Boxed Sets", or "Signed Editions".
Add zones and rates immediately after creating a custom profile.
Use Validate & test after assigning products to a profile.
Test at least one basket that includes only General products and one basket that includes custom-profile products.
FAQ
What are handling fees?
A handling fee adds an extra amount to the shipping price for a profile. You can use a handling fee for packaging, fulfillment materials, or extra handling time. Handling fees can either be a flat amount or a percentage of the shipping rate.
When should I choose "Ship with other items" versus "Ship separately?"
Use "Ship separately" when products in the profile need their own shipment at checkout. For example, a boxed set may need to ship separately from smaller books, or fragile items may need to be packaged and shipped separately.
Note: When a buyer has items from multiple shipping profiles, Beventi combines the available shipping options into checkout choices. Each profile still needs valid shipping coverage for the buyer's destination.
