Set up deposits and payment plans on an order form
You can let buyers secure an order with a deposit and pay the remaining balance later. You choose the deposit, the final payment deadline, and what happens if the balance is still unpaid.
Before you begin
Set the order form's currency and close date first. You will also need a deposit policy that explains your refund and cancellation terms.
Turn on deposits
Open the order form in your Seller Dashboard.
Open Settings.
Find Allow deposits and turn it on.
In Deposits and payment plans, choose Percentage or Fixed amount.
Enter the deposit and the Minimum order value.
The minimum order value controls which orders are eligible for a deposit. Buyers whose order is below the minimum must pay in full at checkout.
Note: For a fixed deposit, the minimum order value must be at least the fixed deposit plus 5.00 in the order form's currency. Shipping and applicable fees are added to the amount collected at checkout.
Set the payment deadline
Choose the date by which every remaining payment must be completed.
Select a custom date, time, and timezone, or use the order form close date when that option is available.
A custom deadline defaults to 11:59 pm in the selected timezone if you do not choose another time.
Beventi uses the order form's timezone when it calculates and displays the payment schedule.
Check the timezone carefully, especially if your buyers or event are in a different region.
Choose what happens to unpaid orders
Choose one of these options:
Keep and remind: The order stays open after the deadline and Beventi continues sending the usual payment reminders.
Cancel after a grace period: After the deadline, the buyer receives a final notice with a cancellation date. The grace period starts when that notice is sent successfully. If the balance is still unpaid when the grace period ends, the order is canceled and its items return to stock.
If you choose cancellation, set a grace period from 1 to 30 days.
Canceling an order does not automatically refund payments already made. Process any refund separately and follow the deposit and refund policies shown to the buyer.
Add your deposit policy
Select Add or Edit beside Deposit policy. Include the following:
whether deposits or installments are refundable
what happens if the buyer cancels
what happens if you cancel the order
any event-specific terms the buyer needs to know.
Buyers see this policy before checkout. Use wording that matches your published refund terms.
What buyers see
An eligible buyer pays the deposit at checkout. They can then choose to pay the remaining balance in one payment or split it into three equal remaining payments. Beventi shows the amount and due date for each payment before the buyer confirms the order.
Save and check the form
Select Done in the deposits panel.
Save the order form settings.
Review the deposit, payment deadline, timezone, and unpaid-order policy before publishing.
Preview or test the buyer checkout so the payment terms are clear.
FAQ
Can I change the payment deadline later?
You can change deadlines for payments that have not been paid. Completed payments remain locked in the order's history.
Does every buyer get a payment plan?
No. The order must meet your minimum order value. Buyers can also choose to pay the full amount at checkout.
