Creating a Language Policy

Create language policies to limit which languages an account can request per call type, then add languages and assign accounts.

Written by Quinn Bott

Language policies let you restrict which languages an account can request, so you only offer the languages you support. As an LSC Administrator, you can create a separate policy for each call type and assign it to the accounts that should use it.

You can customize language policies for OPI, VRI, OSI (onsite), AI Interpreter, and Other (third-party platform).

Create the policy

  1. In the LSC Administrator sidebar, go to Configuration>Company>Customize>Language Policies.

  2. On the left, select the call type for the policy you are creating: OPI, OSI, VRI, AI Interpreter, or Other.

  1. In the pop-up that opens, enter a policy name and an optional description.

  2. Select "Create Language Policy".

Add languages

Once the policy is created, add the languages and accounts that will use it. Start with the languages.

  1. Select the policy, then select "Add/Edit Language".

  1. In the "Hidden" column, search for the language you want to add.

  2. Select the language, then select the single leftward-facing arrow to move it into the policy.

Tip: To move your chosen language from your filtered search at once, select the double leftward-facing arrow.

  1. When the "Available" column lists all the languages you want, select "Save Changes".

[Reviewer note] Confirm the current BDS control for editing a policy's languages. The legacy article uses an "Add/Edit Language" button with Hidden/Available columns; the earlier draft referenced an "Overview" and "Language Configuration" tab and a "More" menu with "Make Default", none of which are confirmed. Verify tab and button labels in the running app.

Add accounts

For an account to use this policy, add it to the policy's members.

  1. Select the "Policy Members" tab at the top of the screen.

  2. Select "Add Accounts".

3. Choose accounts from the drop-down, or select the "All" check box to add every account.

4. Select "Add Chosen" to save.

Next steps / Getting more help

If a language isn't available to an account, confirm the account is a member of the right policy for that call type. If it still doesn't appear, reach out to Boostlingo Support with the account name and the policy name. If you're unsure how to reach Support, contact your Account Manager.
