Volunteering for the NHS on Bubble
Updated over 2 years ago

To support Parents in the NHS during the Covid19 crisis, and to help ensure they are able to make it to their shifts, we have built a new feature allowing sitters to opt-in for voluntary sits for parents working in the Health Service. This feature was inspired by medical students across the country who were volunteering to provide free childcare to NHS parents, and we are partnering with the National Health Supporters group on this initiative.

Furthermore, many sitters in the Bubble community were getting in touch with us, expressing their desire to give something back to the NHS.

We’re delighted to be bringing you this feature – your support is amazing.

This is how to opt-in for volunteer sits on Bubble.

  1. Register for your free sitter account, complete your onboarding portal and get approved on the platform.

  2. Go to the Volunteering tab via your home page or main menu.

  3. Opt-in to Volunteer for NHS workers.

At this point, if you are a medical or healthcare student, tap the toggle and send in a verification document to support@joinbubble.com. Go here for more info on how to verify your student status.

How to apply/accept volunteer sits.

Once you’ve opted in to volunteer, when an NHS parent in your area posts a childcare request, you will be notified via push notification and inside of your app too.

In your app, voluntary sits will be clearly distinguished from regular sits on Bubble.

You can review the request, and as normal, decide if you want to do it.

Before applying to the job post, or accepting a specific request, you will be asked to double-confirm that you are happy to do the sit voluntarily, for no fee.

At this point, a sit will be confirmed and will run as normal in the app.

At the end of the sit, whilst there will be no fee to be paid, both parents and sitters will be asked to review each other at the end.

Guidance on social distancing during the COVID19 pandemic.

Working or volunteering so that key workers can do their jobs is permitted under the current government guidelines on social distancing – however we strongly urge all sitters to ensure that they are up to date with the latest government recommendations, and our own guidance on how best to ensure the safety and good health of everyone on Bubble. You can read these, and watch our guidance video here.
