Before your Bubble profile can go live, you'll need to complete a series of checks through the onboarding portal in the app. Here's exactly what's involved:
1. Identity check
Upload a clear photo of your passport or government-issued ID, a head-and-shoulders photo of yourself, and a photo showing both you and the same ID in the same frame. All 3 photos should be taken in the same place, at the same time.
2. Right-to-work check (non-UK passport holders only)
If you don't hold a UK or Irish passport, you'll need to provide a Right to Work share code so we can confirm you're eligible to work self-employed in the UK. You can request a share code here.
3. Two reference checks
You'll need two written character references from a colleague, employer, or educator - not from friends or family! References must come from someone who knows you in a professional context.
4. Online background check
Once your full onboarding is complete and your references have come back to us, Bubble runs an online background check through our partner Comply Advantage. This cross-references your name against criminal watchlists and an adverse media database. This is separate from a DBS check, which you can also share with us - you can read more about DBS checks here.
Once all steps are complete, including responses from both of your references, the Bubble team will review your profile. We aim to do this within 5 working days.
π‘ You'll also be asked to add a profile photo, set your hourly rate, and write a bio as part of onboarding - make sure yours comply with Bubble's guidelines to speed up your approval process.
