Can I join a trip as a guest or +1?

Yes — Buenro is built for shared experiences, and you can absolutely join a trip as a Guest or a Plus One (+1).

Each role has slightly different responsibilities and payment flows, but both are part of a group booking led by a Curator. This article explains how each role works and how to join a group:

1. What’s the difference between a Guest and a +1?

Guest

A Guest joins a group directly via an invitation or public group listing. Guests are responsible for paying their share of the booking and agreeing to the group’s rules and timeline.

Plus One (+1)

A +1 is invited by someone already in the group (the Inviter), who takes full financial responsibility for both of their spots.

+1s are still expected to:

  • Follow house rules

  • Join the group on time

  • Be visible in the group chat and booking

2. How do I join a group?

You can join in three ways:

  • Invitation from a Curator or another Guest via link

  • Accept an invite if someone sends it to you

  • Tap 'Join Group' on a property where an open group is listed

After selecting your spot:

  • You’ll be prompted to enter your payment details

  • Your card will be authorised (not charged) until the group is full

  • You’ll be added to the group chat and dashboard view

If joining as a +1:

  • You’ll be asked to confirm your identity and agree to terms

  • The Inviter’s payment method covers your participation

3. What happens after I join?

Once joined:

  • You’ll be able to see who else is in the group

  • You can communicate with them in the group chat

  • Your participation helps the group move closer to confirmation

You can also view:

  • The timeline for the booking

  • Group rules

  • Cancellation options (see below)

4. Can I leave or cancel if I change my mind?

Yes. Before the booking is confirmed:

  • You can cancel your participation and your payment hold will be released

After confirmation:

  • Your cancellation is subject to the Property Manager’s policy

  • +1s cannot cancel independently — the Inviter must manage that relationship

5. Key Considerations

  • You’re committing to a shared group stay, not an individual booking

  • Be respectful in communication and follow the property’s rules

  • Keep your payment method up to date to avoid delays

  • If invited as a +1, make sure the Inviter has shared all trip details with you
