How do I connect my Suunto?

Use this article to connect your Suunto to Healthy Cities

Updated this week

To connect Suunto to Healthy Cities mobile app, please follow the steps below:

  1. You must have an existing Suunto account prior to connecting. If you do not have one, please download the official Suunto app and create your account first.

  2. For your activity data to be shared, your Suunto watch must be properly paired and actively syncing with the official Suunto app on your smartphone. The Healthy Cities app retrieves your data from your Suunto account.

  3. From your dashboard, select the menu bars in the top left corner

  4. Select Settings, and then scroll down and select Device

  5. Select Suunto from the list of devices

  6. Select Allow when prompted to give Healthy Cities access to your activity data

  7. Sign in with your Suunto account credentials.

  8. After successfully signing in, click the Authorize button to grant permission to Terra service that helps Healthy Cities get access to your Suunto data.

Healthy Cities App uses Terra (https://tryterra.co/) that acts as a bridge to connect and retrieve data from Suunto device.
Users authentication is required for Terra API to retrieve data from wearable devices and share data with Healthy Cities App.

9. You'll now be prompted to reopen the Healthy Cities app and see a connection confirmation pop up on your screen. Select Okay to confirm.

Congratulations! Your Suunto is now connected!

⚠️ Please note: It is important that native Suunto App on your device is active and remains in foreground to allow successful syncing of steps with Healthy Cities App.

If your latest activity is not getting reflected in the Healthy Cities app, open and refresh the native Suunto App and ensure steps are getting recorded. Post that Healthy Cities App would show your synced data too.

To prevent connection issues, please ensure your app is always updated to the latest version and that you have granted it all necessary data permissions to the app.

Currently, the integration with Suunto will only sync your daily step count to the Healthy Cities app.
