Why can't I create a business subscription as a business user?
To create a business subscription, Chexy needs to verify your business first. Business details used to be optional when you signed up, so if you opened your business account earlier, your business profile may be incomplete. Until it's complete, you won't be able to create a business subscription.
Chexy is regulated by FINTRAC, and Canadian anti-money laundering rules require us to confirm that a business is real before it can pay taxes, payroll, or suppliers by card through Chexy. Completing your details only takes a few minutes.
Is my business account affected by this issue?
This mainly affects business accounts created before June 2026, when business details like your business name, registration number, type, and jurisdiction were optional. They're now required, so these accounts need to complete them before creating a business subscription.
If you've already completed your business details, you don't need to do anything.
What do I need before I start?
Have these ready so you can finish in one go:
Your business's legal name, and its trade or operating name if it's different
Your business or professional registration number, if you have one
The province or jurisdiction where your business is registered
Your business address
Your industry
A document from the registry (provincial or federal) where your business is registered. It must show your business name and address, and that the business is currently active. We accept PDF, JPG, PNG, or HEIC files up to 4.5 MB.
How do I complete my business details?
Open your Business Account settings. In Chexy, go to Settings and select Business Account from the menu.
Start the setup. Under Business, click Add a business account. When the "Welcome to Chexy Business!" message appears, click Set up your business.
Choose your business type. Pick the option that matches how your business is registered: Corporation (incorporated federally or provincially), Partnership (two or more owners sharing the business), Sole proprietorship (one owner, not incorporated), Trust (assets held and managed by a trustee), or Other (a co-op, non-profit, or something else).
Confirm your business details. Enter your legal business name, registration number, jurisdiction, trade or operating name, business address, and industry. Unit number, business website, and registration type are optional. Enter everything exactly as it appears on your registration documents, because we check your details against them.
Upload your verification document. Click Browse files and choose a document from the registry where your business is registered. It must show your business name and address, and that the business is currently active. Then click Continue.
Review and submit. Check that everything matches your registration documents. If something is wrong, click Edit next to that section to change it. Then tick the confirmation box and click Submit for verification.
Depending on your business type, you may also see a step asking for your directors and owners. Fill it in the same way, using the details on your registration documents.
What happens after I submit?
We check your business details against the document you uploaded. Once your business is verified, you can create your business subscription as usual. [Add how long verification usually takes]
Your details are encrypted and used only for verification.
