Here's a full breakdown of how referrals, fees, cashback, and status extensions work in 2026.
Note that 2025 referral statuses expired on February 28, 2026.
Update — referral rewards are increasing to $25 on October 27, 2026. Starting October 27, you and your friend will each receive $25 (up from $20) for every successful referral. The reward amount is based on the date your referred friend activated their account:
Friend activated on or before October 26, 2026: $20 for you and $20 for your friend
Friend activated on or after October 27, 2026: $25 for you and $25 for your friend
Holiday Referral Promo: earn up to $1,000 in bonuses (November 1 – December 31, 2026)
From November 1 to December 31, 2026, you can earn up to $1,000 in milestone bonuses for referring friends to Chexy, on top of the $25 you already get for each referral.
How it works
Share your unique referral link with friends. You'll find it in the Referrals menu.
Your friend creates a Chexy account using your link and activates their account.
Once your friend's account is activated, you and your friend each get $25.
Bonus milestones (for you)
Milestone bonuses go to you, the person who refers. Your friend gets the $25 referral reward but not the milestone bonuses.

Milestones count your total friends referred, so you unlock a new bonus for every 2 more friends:
Friends 1–2: at 2 friends, you get +$100
2 more (friends 3–4): at 4 friends, you get +$300
2 more (friends 5–6): at 6 friends, you get +$600
You only need 6 friends in total to unlock every bonus (not 2 + 4 + 6 = 12). "Running total" in the table is everything you've earned at that point: $25 per friend plus the milestone bonuses so far.
After 6 friends: the milestone bonuses stop at $1,000, but you still get $25 for every additional friend you refer. There's no limit.
What counts toward a milestone?
For a friend to count toward a milestone bonus, they must:
Sign up between November 1 and December 31, 2026 using your referral link
Complete their first payment
Spend at least $1,000 on Chexy within 90 days of creating their account
Example: if your friend creates their account on December 31, 2026, they have until March 31, 2027 to complete their payments and reach $1,000 in spend.
The $1,000 is counted before fees. Only your friend's payment amounts count, not Chexy's processing fees.
Your milestone bonus is credited within a day of your friend reaching $1,000 in spend. Bonuses are processed once a day, so it can take up to a day to show up in your account. You don't have to wait for the 90 days to end.
The $25 referral reward is based on your friend activating their account. Milestone bonuses are based on completed payments: your friend's payments only count toward the $1,000 once they're completed. The $1,000 spend requirement applies only to milestone bonuses.
Who's eligible?
You already have a referral status (Pink, Gold or Elite): your status carries over through 2027, so you keep your reduced processing fee. You can also earn the milestone bonuses, and your promo referrals count toward your next status (for example, Pink → Gold).
You hadn't referred anyone by October 31, 2026: you can earn the milestone bonuses and the $25 per referral, but you won't be able to unlock a reduced processing fee (referral status).
What counts as a previous referral: a friend who activated their account on or before October 31, 2026. A referral that was still pending on October 31 (the friend hadn't activated their account yet) doesn't count.
How Do I Refer a Friend?
To refer a friend and qualify for referral credits, you must use your unique referral link:
Log into your Chexy account
Click the top left menu icon
Select Referrals
Click Invite Link — this copies your link to your clipboard
Paste the link into a message and send it directly to your friend.
Important: Your friend must sign up using your referral link in order for the referral to track properly. Signing up without the link may result in the referral not qualifying.
Is There a Limit to How Many Friends I Can Refer?
No — there is no limit to how many friends or family members you can refer to Chexy. The more people you refer, the more cashback you can earn and the faster you can progress toward unlocking higher Referral Statuses, which means bigger discounts on your processing fees.
How the referral program works in 2026
The structure is similar to last year:
You earn a referral status based on how many friends you successfully refer
Your status determines the processing fee you pay
Referred friends get $25 cashback once they activate their account
You can move up statuses as you refer more people
If you hadn't referred anyone by October 31, 2026, you can't unlock a referral status. You can still earn $25 per referral and the holiday milestone bonuses (see above).
Here's how status work in 2026:

Cashback amounts above apply to referrals where your friend activated on or after October 27, 2026. If your friend activated on or before October 26, 2026, you'll each receive $20 cashback instead.
How Long Does My Referral Status Last?
Your Referral Status lasts for the entire calendar year in which you earn it. If you hold a Pink, Gold or Elite status, it carries over through the end of 2027, and referrals you make during the holiday promo count toward your next status.
The earlier you reach a new referral status within the year, the longer you'll enjoy discounted processing fees.
How does the discount work if I'm paying with an International credit card?
If you're currently paying a higher fee (for example, international cards at 2.5%), you'll receive the following discount:
Pink: 0.25% discount
Gold: 0.75% discount
Elite: 1.25% discount
Example:
If you're in Gold (0.75% discount) and paying with an international card:
2.5% – 0.75% = 1.75% final fee
Is there a limit on the spend that's eligible for a discount?
Yes. Referral discounts apply to a total of $50,000 in qualifying spend per calendar year. Please note the following:
This is a single annual cap across all tiers combined, not $50,000 per tier. Moving up a tier does not reset the cap.
Example: If you used $40,000 of the cap while in Pink and had $10,000 left, then moved up to Gold, you would still only have $10,000 left to use at the Gold discount rate.
The counter started on March 1, 2026 and resets to $0 on January 1, 2027.
Once you exceed $50,000, payments are charged at the standard fee for your credit card type for the rest of the year.
You continue to earn $25 cashback per successful referral even after reaching the cap.
