How referral rewards work on Chexy: eligibility, earning, redeeming, tracking your progress, and resolving common issues.

Eligibility and Earning Referral Bonuses

To qualify for earning a referral bonus on Chexy:

  • You need to complete the sign-up process using a valid referral link.

  • Bonuses are applied only after the successful completion of your first payment. If you have an Aeroplan account, linking it can also help earn bonus Aeroplan points.

  • Ensure the referral information provided during sign-up is accurate, as this ensures the correct rewards are credited. Always inform Chexy of any updates before making the first payment.

Failures in linking or changes to payment may delay or prevent referral bonuses from being recorded. For instance, referrals may not be tracked properly if the sign-up session is interrupted (e.g., page closed, or process not completed immediately). To avoid such issues, complete the sign-up process in one session.


What Happens If Your Friend Doesn't Complete Their First Payment?

If you've referred a friend to Chexy but they haven't yet completed their first payment, you will need to wait until they do to earn Referral Rewards or make progress toward your Referral Status.

  • No Referral Rewards: If your referral doesn't complete at least one payment using their Chexy account, you won't receive the $20 in Referral Rewards for that referral.

  • No Progress Toward Status: Until the person you referred completes their first payment, their referral won't count toward your Referral Status progress.

Once they complete a payment, you'll receive Referral Rewards and progress toward your Referral Status as usual!


How to Redeem Referral Bonuses

After earning a referral bonus, it can typically be redeemed through the Referrals page in your Chexy account. Follow these steps to make use of your balance:

  1. Log in to your Chexy account.

  2. Go to the "Referrals" page.

  3. Apply the referral reward to your upcoming recurring payment.

Note: If you have already been charged for an upcoming payment, the rewards credit will be applied to a future charge of that payment.


How to Track Your Referral Progress

Tracking your referral progress is simple — you can see how many successful referrals you've made and whether your friends have activated their accounts directly from your dashboard.

  1. On the web app — log in to your Chexy account and navigate to the Referrals page in your dashboard.

  2. On the mobile app — tap the menu icon, select Referrals, and view your progress directly from your phone.

  3. View your progress — you'll see the total number of successful referrals you've made. This number increases each time a referred friend activates their Chexy account and completes a payment.

How to Know If a Referral Has Been Counted: Once your referred friend activates their account and completes their first payment, their referral will be counted toward your total on the Referrals page.

Important: To make sure your referral tracks correctly, remind your friend to sign up using your unique referral link and to complete the signup on the same device where they opened your link. If your link isn't used during signup, we won't be able to attribute the referral to your account.


Why Is My Referral Status Not Updating?

If your referral status hasn't updated after referring a friend, here are a few things to check:

  1. Make sure your friend has completed their first payment — simply sharing your referral link isn't enough. Your friend must complete at least one payment on Chexy for the referral to count.

  2. Wait up to 24 hours — once your friend completes a payment, it can take up to 24 hours for your referral status to update on your dashboard.

  3. Still not updated after 24 hours? — reach out to Chexy Support, and our team will be happy to help resolve the issue.


Fixing Issues Related to Referral Bonuses

Sometimes referral bonuses might not appear in your account due to unforeseen issues. Here's what you can do:

Common Issues:

  • Missing referral after your friend's first payment: Referral bonuses are usually processed within approximately 2 weeks after the completion of the required actions. If the reward does not appear, this could indicate a tracking mistake.

Resolution:

  • If no bonus is credited, contact Chexy's Support team to request a referral review. After eligibility has been confirmed, the missing bonus can be added to your account.

Referral bonuses that are initially not tracked may still be eligible to be reinstated as a one-time courtesy if you report the issue promptly to support.


What Happens When Payments Are Cancelled?

Referral rewards are considered one-time-use discounts that must be applied to active recurring payments. If a payment with a referral bonus applied is cancelled, the reward does not get automatically reinstated.


General Tips

  • Stay Patient: Referral rewards may take some time, often up to 2 weeks, to appear in your account after the stated conditions are met.

  • Contacting Support: If you still encounter discrepancies or errors in referral tracking, reach out to Chexy's Support for further investigation.
