Managing Star Ratings

ClassCover’s Star Ratings system helps you organise and prioritise your casuals. It helps you easily identify and manage casuals based on their performance, availability, as well as the needs of your school.

Note: Star ratings is for internal use only and does not affect casuals' records or visibility at other schools. Casuals are not notified when their star status changes.

Where Can You Manage Your Star Ratings?

You can manage star ratings under ‘My List’ in the desktop version of ClassCover. To give a casual a star rating, simply hover your mouse over the stars located at the bottom of the profile photo or casual's profile picture. From there, you can assign, change, or remove stars based on how you want to organise and prioritise your casuals.

What Do the Different Stars Mean?

As well as acting as a visual identifier of your preferred casuals, the star rating given to a casual will determine where they show up on your school’s list.

1. Two Gold Stars

These are your preferred casuals. Casuals with two gold stars will feature at the top of your booking request list, making them a priority for booking.

2. One Gold Star

These casuals are rated highly, but not as highly as those with two gold stars. Casuals with one gold star will still appear closer to the top of booking requests, ensuring they are easily visible when making a booking.

3. No Stars (Empty Stars)

This is the default star status for casuals and doesn't affect their standing. Casuals with no stars are treated the same as those with no rating and are placed in the system based on availability and other factors.

4. Grey Stars

Casuals with grey stars are considered temporarily inactive. These casuals won’t appear in booking requests or on the pre-confirmed bookings page. You can use Grey Stars to suit the needs of your school e.g. to identify casuals on maternity leave, or those with block bookings or temporary unavailability.

5. Black Stars

Casuals with black stars are suspended from bookings and will not appear in booking requests or the pre-confirmed page. Unlike grey stars, casuals with black stars are essentially removed from the available pool. This option is useful if you do not want the casual to be re-added by another user at your school. You might use this for casuals who are permanently unavailable or if you wish to permanently remove a casual from your school’s list.

Important Notes:

  • Internal Use Only: Stars are for internal organisation and are not visible to other schools or casuals.

  • Casual Notification: Casuals won’t be notified when their star rating is updated.

  • Flexibility: You can adjust the star ratings at any time based on your school’s needs and the casual's availability.

  • Updating Star Ratings is only available on the desktop version of ClassCover.
