Star ratings are a simple but powerful way to organise and prioritise casuals on your school’s list. Whether you want to highlight your go-to casuals or temporarily hide those who are unavailable, ClassCover’s star system gives you flexible tools to help manage your booking process more efficiently.
⭐ Star ratings are internal and only visible to admin users at your school – they’re never seen by the casuals themselves.
How Star Ratings Help
Using star ratings helps your school:
Prioritise trusted, high-performing casuals
Quickly identify who to contact (or not contact) for bookings
Organise your list without needing filters every time
Combine ratings with Smart Groups for even better booking workflows
💡 Tip: Use grey stars instead of removing casuals who are only temporarily unavailable – this keeps your list tidy without permanently deleting anyone.
What Each Star Rating Means
ClassCover uses a colour-coded star system to help schools manage casuals based on preference and availability:
🌟🌟 Two Gold Stars
Your top-rated casuals. These casuals feature at the top of your booking request list and are prioritised when sending out bookings.
🌟 One Gold Star
Highly rated casuals who still appear near the top when sending booking requests, but below two-star casuals.
No Stars (Empty Stars)
The default status. These casuals are treated like any other unranked profile, and appear based on other booking factors like availability.
⚪ Grey Stars
Temporarily inactive casuals. These casuals will not appear in booking requests or in the pre-confirmed bookings page. Ideal for casuals on leave, block bookings, or those who are unavailable short-term.
⚫ Black Stars
Fully suspended from bookings. These casuals are hidden from all booking views and cannot be re-added by another user at your school. Best used for casuals who are no longer working or you do not wish to re-engage.
Where to Add or Change a Star Rating
On Desktop:
Go to Manage > My List
Find the casual you’d like to update
Click on the stars next to their name and choose your preferred rating
On Mobile:
Star ratings can be viewed on the mobile app, but can only be added or changed via the desktop version of ClassCover.
Important Notes:
Internal Use Only: Stars are for internal organisation and are not visible to other schools or casuals.
Casual Notification: Casuals won’t be notified when their star rating is updated.
Flexibility: You can adjust the star ratings at any time based on your school’s needs, the casual's availability or feedback.
Updating Star Ratings is only available on the desktop version of ClassCover. Mobile users can view them, but not update them.
