If you encounter performance or behaviour issues with a casual, ClassCover offers a simple and effective way to address the situation. Whether you need to temporarily suspend a casual, share feedback with your team, or escalate serious concerns to the NSW Department of Education, this guide will walk you through the process step by step.
Step 1: Place the Casual in a Suspended State from Your ClassCover List
Navigate to 'My List'
Go to the ‘My List’ section of your ClassCover Account, where you can view all the casuals currently associated with your school.
Locate the Casual's Profile
Find the casual you wish to suspend. Use the search feature to quickly locate their profile if needed.
Choose to Suspend or Mark with Black Stars:
Suspend: Click on the cog icon and select Suspend.
Suspend: This will temporarily suspend the casual from your list. They will remain inactive until you choose to reactivate their profile.
Mark with Black Stars: Casuals with black stars are suspended from bookings and will not appear in booking requests or the pre-confirmed page. This option acts the same as grey stars under suspension but lets other users in your school know not to rebook or engage the casual in the future. This option is useful if you do not want the casual to be re-added by another user at your school and want a clear definition. You might use this for casuals who are permanently unavailable or if you wish to permanently remove a casual from your school’s list and you want to restrict them being readded. Confirmation
After selecting your preferred option (Suspend or Black Stars), the casual will be immediately removed or suspended from your school’s profile.
Reactivating the Casual
If you decide to re-engage this casual later, simply click the cog icon again and select ‘Reactivate’. The casual will be added back to your list.
Note: Casuals are not notified when they are suspended or reactivated.
Step 2: Share Feedback About the Casual with Other ClassCover Administrators at Your School
If you need to share feedback about a casual with other administrators in your school, follow these steps:
Go to 'My List'
Navigate to the ‘My List’ section in ClassCover.
Locate the Casual
Find the casual you wish to share feedback on.
Share the Casual Profile
Click the cog icon on the right-hand side of the casual’s profile and select ‘Share’.
Enter the Email Address
Enter the email address of the school user you want to share the casual’s details with.
The system will verify that the email address is associated with a verified school user at your institution.
Send Profile:
Click ‘Send Profile’ to share the casual's details with the chosen administrator.
Step 3: Contact the Department if You Have Major Concerns
If you have serious concerns about a casual’s conduct, beyond performance or behaviour issues, please escalate the issue directly to the Employee Performance and Conduct Directorate (EPAC).
