You may occasionally see the term "Flexi Booking" on your booking request invites. This feature is designed to enable schools to make a booking when they know they have a vacancy, but don’t yet know the specific class or teacher that will need covering. Here’s what Flexi Booking means and why it’s a great tool for both schools and casuals.
What is a Flexi Booking?
A Flexi Booking is a regular booking, just missing some details - for example, the class, year level, or teacher needing cover. This is not an oversight; it’s a placeholder to let you know that these details are pending and may be updated closer to the booking date. Schools are encouraged to update the booking information as soon as they have it, so keep an eye on your calendar as these details may appear before your scheduled booking.
Why Schools use Flexi Bookings
Before we launched Flexi Bookings, some schools were creating booking requests that were missing details like the teacher and year level to be covered. These bookings created confusion among casuals and often went unfilled.
We surveyed schools about why they were leaving booking details blank, and here’s what we found:
60% of schools like to book in advance but may not have determined the specific class or teacher to be covered.
20% of schools expect last-minute changes and don’t want casuals preparing for a class or booking that may change.
We appreciate that this information is important for casuals to know, so we created Flexi Bookings to provide more certainty to casuals while enabling schools to create a booking request before they have the full details.
What Impact Has Flexi Bookings Had?
While some casuals were hesitant to accept a booking request with info missing, since the launch of Flexi Bookings:
57% of casuals said they’d be more likely to respond if a booking request was a Flexi Booking
Flexi Bookings helps schools be transparent, giving casuals a clearer understanding of why booking details might be missing. This addition not only alleviates casuals uncertainty but also improves response and acceptance rates, making bookings smoother and more reliable for all.
