ClassCover offers a range of booking options to suit your school’s needs – whether you're planning ahead, managing last-minute changes, or waiting on key details. Once your school’s casual list is set up and ready to go, you are ready to start booking.

This guide walks you through each booking method available and when to use them.

Each option is designed to give you flexibility and control, so you can find the right casual at the right time with minimal hassle.

Booking Methods at a Glance

  • One at a Time: Send requests to casuals one by one in your preferred order – each casual gets a turn to respond before it moves to the next.

  • All at Once: Notify all casuals on your shortlist at the same time – whoever accepts first gets the booking.

  • Pre-confirmed: Lock in a booking instantly with a casual you’ve already spoken to – no confirmation needed.

  • Flexi Booking: Book a casual now even if you’re still waiting on class or casual details – update the booking later when ready.

Note: All booking options are available on both desktop and mobile.

1. Booking Request – One at a Time

This option is perfect when you have go-to casuals you'd like to prioritise. It gives each casual a fair chance to respond – one after the other – allowing you to have more control over who fills a booking.

  • Customise the order of casuals in your shortlist

  • Set time delays between each request

  • If no one accepts, the system moves on to the next in line automatically

2. Booking Request – All at Once

With this option, you send the booking request to all shortlisted casuals at once. This is great for last-minute bookings when you need coverage urgently.

  • All casuals receive the booking request at once

  • The first to accept gets the job

  • Ideal for urgent or same-day bookings

💡 Tip: If your booking request isn’t urgent, schedule your requests to go out after school hours for better response rates.

3. Pre-confirmed Bookings

If you've already spoken to a casual and agreed on a booking, Pre-confirmed bookings are a great option to use to lock in the booking in ClassCover.

This feature is best used when you’ve already confirmed the booking with the casual. Do not use this for unsolicited booking requests, as casuals may cancel if they haven’t been informed beforehand.

4. Flexi Bookings

If you know you need a casual but don’t have all the details yet – like which class or teacher is being covered – Flexi Bookings are your go-to. You can send the request now and fill in the details later.

  • Book a casual now and leave the class or teacher field blank

  • Add or edit details later by updating the booking in your calendar

  • Casuals will see a note explaining that this is a Flexi Booking

A prompt will appear when creating a Flexi Booking:

“Not sure of the class or teacher being covered yet? Send this request as a Flexi Booking so they are aware. You can update the booking details when you have more details.”

📈 Schools that use Flexi Bookings see a 57% higher acceptance rate from casuals.

Extra Tools to Help with Bookings

  • Emergency List: If no one accepts your request, enable this to expand your reach beyond your shortlist.

  • Smart Groups: Group casuals by subjects, year levels, or preferences for faster, targeted bookings.
