Once your school’s casual list is set up and ready to go, you are ready to start booking. Below is a quick overview of the different booking options available in ClassCover, designed to suit various situations and preferences.

All booking options are available on both desktop and mobile:

  • Booking Request – One at a Time: Send the booking request to one casual at a time, in your chosen order of preference, with a set delay between each.

  • Booking Request – All at Once: Send the request to all selected casuals at the same time to fill the position quickly.

  • Pre-confirmed Bookings: Use this when you’ve already spoken with a casual and confirmed the details—this will instantly secure the booking without needing their response.

Booking Request – One at a Time

If you have preferred casuals you'd like to prioritise, you can send booking requests one at a time. After creating your shortlist, simply order the casuals by preference and set a time delay between each request. Once you click send, ClassCover will invite the first person on your list. If they don’t respond within the set time, the request will automatically move on to the next person, and so on.

This option is ideal when you want more control over who fills a booking—giving your top choices a fair opportunity to accept before the request moves down the list.

Booking Request – All at Once

With this option, you send the booking request to all shortlisted casuals at once. This is great for last-minute bookings when you need coverage urgently. However, since the first person to respond gets the job, it’s not ideal if you want to give priority to specific casuals. Overusing this option may make it harder for casuals to get booked consistently.

Tip: If your booking request isn’t urgent, schedule your requests to go out after school hours for better response rates. Unsure how to do this? Check this article out here!

Emergency List – A Backup When No One Accepts

If no one from your initial shortlist responds to a booking request, you can enable the Emergency List as a backup. This will automatically send the request to a broader group of casuals that match the job criteria—either to your full list of available casuals or a filtered group based on subject and year level depending on your choice, and is triggered 30 minutes after the last invite was sent. It's a helpful way to improve your chances of filling last-minute or unfilled bookings. Learn more about the Emergency List.

Pre-confirmed Bookings

Pre-confirmed bookings are for casuals that you’ve already verbally agreed to book. Use this option to lock in the booking in ClassCover, ensuring your calendar is up-to-date, and the casual won’t be booked by another school on the same day. You can also schedule block bookings, either consecutive or non-consecutive, based on your agreement.

This feature is best used when you’ve already confirmed the booking with the casual. Do not use this for unsolicited booking requests, as casuals may cancel if they haven’t been informed beforehand. Learn more about Pre-confirmed bookings.
