How to use the Machines page

See your washers, dryers and folding areas at a glance, track orders through production, review machine history and report machine issues.

Written by George

The Machines page is a live view of your production floor. See which machines are in use, where orders are waiting and which machines need attention. Find it in the sidebar. It has three tabs: Machines, History and Issues.

Machines tab

The Machines tab shows your whole workflow on one screen. At the top right, Machines and Orders switch the view. Both show the same work, in a different layout.

Machines view

Machines view groups work by machine. It’s best for seeing what’s free and what’s busy.

  • Washers, Dryers, Folding and Utility: each machine or area has its own card. A card in use shows the machine name, the order number, the customer and the time left. An empty card is free.

  • Warning icon: a red icon next to a machine name means it has an open issue and may be out of service.

  • Waiting areas: dashed boxes, like Waiting for a dryer and Waiting for folding, hold orders that finished one stage and are waiting for the next machine. They show where work is stacking up.

  • Card colors: a green card means the cycle is done and the order is ready to move. A yellow card means the cycle is almost finished.

Queue

The queue sits on the right. It lists orders waiting to start, with the order number, customer, notes like detergent type or starch, weight and how long the order has been waiting. Overdue orders show in red. Use Sort to change the order.

Order Ready

At the bottom right, Order Ready is where finished orders go when they’re ready for collection or delivery.

Orders view

Orders view groups work by stage. It’s best for following an order from start to finish. Orders move from the Queue through Washers, Dryers and Folding, then to Order Ready. Each stage has a Waiting area underneath it.

Select any order in either view to see its timeline and machine history.

Moving orders through production

Both views use drag and drop. To move an order, drag it onto a machine, or onto the next stage or waiting area. When you drop an order on a machine, you can choose the cycle, time and a note, and add it to more than one machine if the load is split. If only part of an order is going to the machines now, turn on Keep in to do to keep it in your queue. When an order reaches Order Ready, enter the rack location, bags and hanging items.

History tab

The History tab records the orders that went through your machines. Use it to review completed work or look into a past problem.

  • Filter by Type: show washers, dryers, ironing or folding.

  • Date: choose a day. The counts at the top show how many washes, dries, ironing and folding jobs ran.

  • Search for a customer or order, or export the list as a CSV.

Each row shows the machine, type, order, customer, staff member, how long it ran, the date, and the start and end time.

Issues tab

The Issues tab tracks machine problems, like a dryer that isn’t heating. Use the dropdown at the top to show active or resolved issues. Each issue shows the machine, priority, whether it’s still usable, a description, who reported it and when.

Report a machine issue

  1. Select Report Machine Issue.

  2. Choose the type of machine, then select the machine.

  3. Describe the problem.

  4. Choose a Priority: Low, Medium or High.

  5. Turn Machine still usable on or off. Turn it off if the machine is out of service.

  6. Select Submit.

Resolve an issue

Select Resolve on the issue, add a note about what was done and confirm. The issue moves to the resolved list.

Which view should I use?

  • Orders view: follow an order through each stage and see overall progress.

  • Machines view: assign work to free machines and see how busy each one is.
