Customer Settings

How to configure customer information, groups, and sources.

Written by Rafael

Go to More > Settings > Store Settings > Workflow > Customers to set up what information you collect and how you organize your customer base.

Information

  • Required Information When Creating Customer: Select from Phone Number, Address, Email, and Marketing Opt-in.

  • Optional Information When Creating Customer: Select from Customer Source, Birthday, Gender, and Tax ID.

Customer Groups

Segmenting customers into groups helps with reporting, order management, and targeted marketing. View, manage, and add customer groups here. Select Add Customer Group to set:

  • Name: A label for the group.

  • Type: Choose Manually Assign Customers to select customers individually, or Revenue Rule to segment customers automatically based on spending (for example, customers who have spent over $1,000).

  • Color: Choose a color to visually identify the group.

  • Highlight in POS: Toggle on to show a color-coded badge for this group on the New Order page and in the CRM.

Example: A VIP group might use a black badge, making those customers easy to spot at a glance.

Tip: Customer groups are also useful for testing SMS campaigns. Create a small test group, such as staff or internal contacts, and send a campaign to them first before launching to your full list. This is especially useful when using emojis, longer messages, or new wording, since it helps catch delivery issues before they reach customers.

Customer Sources

Select Add Customer Source to track how customers found your business, for example:

  • Google Search

  • Google Maps

  • Yelp

  • Facebook

  • Friend or Family

  • Other

Once enabled, you can add or update a customer's source at any time from their CRM profile, even if it wasn't captured when they signed up.
