Coworker Notetaker Overview

What is Notetaker?

Coworker Notetaker is an AI meeting assistant that joins your virtual meetings, captures audio, generates a transcript, and produces a summary report with discussion topics and action items. It works with Google Meet and Zoom, and integrates directly with your Google Calendar so your meetings are captured automatically.

This article is a high-level overview. For step-by-step instructions on specific setups, see the linked guides below.

Notetaker's key functions

  • Joins meetings as an attendee named Coworker Notetaker

  • Captures audio and generates a full transcript

  • Summarizes the conversation, highlighting key topics and action items

  • Stores everything in your Coworker Meetings feed for easy reference

Options for using Notetaker

1. Auto-join (set and forget)

Configure Notetaker to join all internal and/or external meetings by default. You can still admit or deny it on a per-meeting basis. This is the recommended approach for most users.

2. Per-meeting toggle

Enable or disable Notetaker for a specific upcoming meeting without changing your default settings. This applies to recurring meetings too.

3. Invite to a live meeting

Already in a call? Paste a Google Meet or Zoom link to have Notetaker join within seconds. You can also trigger this directly from the Work page when Coworker detects you are on an active call.

4. Instant meetings (One-click Notetaker)

Start an audio-only meeting directly in Coworker without a Google Meet or Zoom link. This creates an "Instant Meeting" that is transcribed and summarized just like any other call. Useful for quick conversations or when you do not have a meeting link.

What to expect during a meeting

  • Notetaker attempts to join 5 minutes before the scheduled start time

  • It remains for up to 5 minutes after the call ends

  • If it is not admitted within 5 minutes of the meeting start, it will time out and leave

  • On Google Meet and Zoom, it appears in the waiting room and must be admitted by a participant

What you get after the meeting

  • Transcript: Available in Coworker approximately 30 seconds after the call ends

  • Summary report: Available approximately 1–2 minutes after the call ends, including discussion topics and action items

Note: Your Google Calendar must be connected to Coworker for Notetaker to automatically join your meetings
