Global Sync is CUE's recommended synchronization method for Light Shows that eliminates the need for audio triggers embedded in your audio track. Instead of relying on high-frequency, inaudible tones that phones pick up through their microphones, Global Sync uses time-based synchronization over the internet. When Global Sync is enabled, fans simply scan a QR code to join the Light Show through CUE's web browser. Once connected, their phones are synchronized through CUE's server infrastructure — when you press play in the Light Show admin panel (or trigger it via a Ross XPression or Dashboard button), all connected phones receive the timing signal simultaneously over their data connection. Fans who join late are automatically synced to wherever the show currently is in the timeline. This approach is ideal for venues with reliable Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity, particularly older stadiums or venues with challenging acoustics where audio systems may not deliver consistent sound to all seating areas. Global Sync eliminates audio editing requirements, removes dependency on your PA system quality, and allows seamless integration with production systems. To use Global Sync, ensure the setting is toggled on in the Settings menu (upper left corner of the Light Show builder) before creating your show — this will enable the blue 'Activate' button in your control panel on game day. For most modern venue deployments, Global Sync provides reliable, perfect synchronization across all participating devices without concerns about audio interference.
