How can I view an Episode as a Script or as a Rundown?

Learn how to select the Script or Rundown layout, or both side-by-side, and how to customise the layout to your needs

Updated over a year ago

As explained in our What is an Episode in Cuez? article, an Episode is a different name for your Script or Rundown (Running Order), and can include all sorts of information such as Timings and different 'notes' Columns.

When viewing your Episode, you can select the layout in which you want to see all this information displayed. This can either be as a Script layout, as a Rundown layout or both side-by-side. Each of these layouts can be customised with the information you want or need.

Besides simply viewing your Episode in a specific layout, this also ties in to the Printing options available in Cuez - see How can I Print an Episode? for more information on Printing.

Episode layout

To switch to a different layout, open the 'Layout' menu in the top left corner of your Episode and select the layout you want to use. The available options are:

Rundown & Script

The 'Rundown & Script' view (as pictured above and below) is perfect for viewing both the Rundown and Script layouts simultaneously, side-by-side. A nice addition to this layout is that the Rundown side can easily be hidden if you temporarily don't need to see it.

The Rundown side of this layout offers a compact overview of all Parts, Items and Cue Blocks in your Episode. Text Blocks are not shown in the Rundown side.

Parts and Items can be collapsed or expanded depending on the amount of content you want to see at once.

The Rundown side of this layout is perfect for more technical roles within the team.

The Script layout offers a more detailed view and includes the Text Blocks as well, making for a complete overview of your Episode.

The Script side of this layout is perfect for more editorial roles within the team.

Both the Rundown and Script sides of the side-by-side layout can - independently - be customised further by enabling or disabling certain Columns. To find out how to do this, check out our article about Columns in Cuez.

When using the 'Rundown & Script' side-by-side layout, you can also use the Rundown as a table of contents to navigate to a specific part of your Episode on the Script side of the layout. For this, in the Rundown simply click one of the 'Part', 'Item' or 'Cue Block badges', which will make your Script automatically scroll to that specific Part, Item or Cue Block.

Script only

When selecting the 'Script only' layout, you can focus on the Script side of your Episode. As mentioned above, this layout includes all Parts, Items and Blocks (both Cue Blocks as well as Text Blocks), giving you a complete overview of everything in your Episode.

To show or hide additional Columns (such as Timings or notes) in the 'Script only' layout, see our article about Columns in Cuez.

Rundown only

When selecting the 'Rundown only' layout, you can focus on the Rundown side of your Episode. As mentioned above, this layout includes all Parts, Items and Cue Blocks (not the Text Blocks).

To show or hide additional Columns (such as Timings or notes) in the 'Rundown only' layout, see our article about Columns in Cuez.
