Discover the many ways in which new (sub) stories can be created in storiez

Updated over a week ago

New (sub) stories can be created in multiple ways throughout Storiez, with the News Desk and Story Tray being the main starting points.

Stories vs Sub stories

Throughout the Storiez platform you can find 'stories', as well as 'sub stories', but what exactly is the difference between the two?

Stories are the 'main' content you create for a certain topic, the 'parent' if you will.

Sub stories are the content you create in one of your Publishing Points, so the 'children' of the story.

How to create new (sub) stories

Usually a story would be created first, from which a sub story can then be created in the Publishing Points. But you can also directly create a sub story in a Publishing Point, for which Storiez will automatically create a 'parent' story as well.

News Desk

Stories

Depending on the view/layout you currently have selected for your News Desk, you will see the different 'Priorities', such as 'Breaking', 'Actual', 'Pitch' and more (see What are story priorities? for more information on Story Priorities). Each of these priorities has a '+' button which you can use to create a new story under that specific priority.

For the 'All' view, which show a list of all stories in your News Desk, a 'Create Story' button is available in the top left corner. The new story will then be added to the list, as well as under the default priority as configured in your Default Story Properties.

Sub stories

To create a sub story, first open the main story. Your Publishing Points will be visible towards the bottom of the story details, allowing you to add a sub story to the story.

Alternatively, open one of your Publishing Points, which will appear on the side of the News Desk. Next, either click the 'Create Story' button at the top of your Publishing Point to create a new story, or drag one of your 'main' stories onto the Publishing Point to create a sub story from it.

Story Tray

Creating stories in the story Tray works similar to how it works in the News Desk itself, but in a '1 day' or list view. For the 1 day view, the different priorities are shown and have a '+' button to allow you to create a new story. For the list, a 'Create Story' button is shown instead.
