Learn all about Dossiers and how they can be used to write content in a story

What are Dossiers

Dossiers, also known as briefs, are rich text documents where all sorts of information for the story can be collected and written. Whether it is background information on your topic or guest, questions you are preparing, tasks, checklists, contact information, and more.

If more than one Dossier is needed in order to collect (or separate) your content for the story, you can create multiple Dossiers as needed.

How can I create a Dossier

Dossier template

You can create Dossier templates in Storiez so that it is easy to start a Dossier for a story. Templates can be created in a way to be a simple 'skeleton' of what you want your team to work on for a story, or templates can be worked out in more detail with more content.

Multiple Dossier templates can be created in your Storiez organization, allowing you to customize and select the template that best fits your needs for the story you are working on.

Creating a Dossier for a story

To create a Dossier for a story, open a story (in the sidebar on the right or in full screen) and go to the 'Dossiers' section. Next, click 'Add' to add a Dossier.

If you have Dossier templates available in your Storiez organization, you can select a template to start your Dossier. Alternatively, you can opt to start from a 'New empty document'.

Once you have the Dossier open, you can give the Dossier a title and start typing in the whitespace below.

When adding content to a Dossier, you can type freely, making use of standard text formatting such as bold, italics, strikethrough, and more. Additionally, you can even give your text a color or background color.

Use the slash command ( / ) to easily add or modify content. This menu gives you access to:

  • Headings: Heading 1, Heading 2 and Heading 3 are available for multiple levels of hierarchy.

  • 'Details': These are foldable sections of content. If you have a section of content that is taking up a lot of space, or something that is important but can be folded away by default, then adding a 'Details' section is a great option.

  • Bulleted lists

  • Numbered lists

  • Content from Lists you custom created

Dossier examples

As mentioned above, you can customize Dossiers to suit your needs in order to collect all the necessary information for a story. That being said, here are a couple of examples to get you started:
