What is an MCP server?
An MCP server (Model Context Protocol server) is a lightweight program that acts as a universal bridge connecting AI applications to external data sources, files, and tools.
How does Cuttable use MCP Servers?
Cuttable can connect to your MCP servers to find data to help generate ad suggestions. Ad Suggestions is a new experimental feature. If you would like access, please reach out to chat support.
How to add an MCP server
Connecting other MCP servers
Select your initials in the bottom left corner of the Cuttable screen.
Click Settings, then open the Connectors tab.
On the MCP server card, select Add a server.
In Name, type what you want the server called on the page.
In What it's for, type one line describing it. This field is optional.
In Address, paste the server's MCP endpoint. It must start with
https://, and it must be the endpoint rather than the product's home page.Under How it signs in, choose one of the three options
No sign-in: The server is open to anyone who knows the address.
Sign in with the provider: You finish signing in yourself, in a new window, after the server is added.
A key you paste in: The server gave you a secret key. Cuttable stores it the way it stores a sign-in, and never shows it again.
Select Add server.
What Cuttable sends to your MCP server
Cuttable may send parts of your account data, such as ad names, numbers and product names, to the server as tool inputs. Only read tools are used. You can remove the server at any time.
FAQs
Can I use this to connect Claude or ChatGPT to Cuttable?
No. This page is for connecting other tools' MCP servers into Cuttable, so Cuttable can use their data for ad suggestions. Connecting an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT to Cuttable uses a different feature, which is coming soon. We will let all customers know when this is live.
Nothing happened when I selected Connect.
The sign-in opens in a new window, so your browser may have blocked it. Allow pop-ups for Cuttable, then select Connect again. Cuttable also shows a warning on the Connectors tab when a sign-in window is blocked.
Cuttable says it cannot use my address. Why?
Read the sentence under the Address field, which names the problem. The most common causes are an address that starts with http:// rather than https://, and an address pointing at the product's home page rather than at its MCP endpoint. The product's own documentation gives the endpoint.
How many MCP servers can one workspace hold?
There is a limit, and Cuttable names the number if you reach it. Remove a server to add another.
