1. Access the placement test feature
Log in to Dokeos LMS as an instructor.
Click on "Tests" in the sidebar.
You will be redirected to a page where you can view all existing tests on the platform, including those you have created or those where you are added as a co-instructor.
On this page, you can:
Search for tests using the search bar.
Use filters to sort tests by status (e.g., "Ongoing", "Archived").
Download existing tests as an Excel file using the "Export" button.
For each test, three buttons are available:
Edit: to modify the test.
View: to display the test details.
Archive: to store the test.
To add a new test, click on the "Add" button.
2. Create a new placement test: four steps
Step 1: Information
Title: Provide a clear title for the test.
Description: Briefly describe the test and what it assesses.
Content: If necessary, add additional content to explain the test process.
Estimated duration: Indicate the estimated duration of the test in minutes.
Step 2: Registration settings
Training enrollment upon approval: Enable this option if you want learners to be automatically enrolled in a training program after taking the test, subject to approval.
Learner self-enrollment for the test: This option allows all learners on the platform to be automatically enrolled in your placement test.
Partner portal: In this section, you can select the sub-portals with which you want to share the test.
Step 3: Add one or more themes
Now, you need to add themes to your placement test. You have two options:
Add from existing theme templates: Choose from the already created themes.
Add a new theme: If you haven't created a theme yet, you can do so here.
If you want to add multiple themes, repeat this step for each theme you wish to include in the test.
Step 4: Advanced options
Mix questions: This option allows questions to be randomly selected from the chosen themes, making the test less predictable for learners.
Display the theme title with the question: If enabled, the theme title will appear alongside each question statement, providing useful context.
End-of-test message: Customize a message that will appear at the end of the test to congratulate the learner or provide additional information.
Conclusion
Once all information has been entered and options configured, click "Publish" to create your placement test. It will then be available for learners to participate based on the enrollment criteria you have set.
