Summary
Ranges and tiers let you manage production recipes as organisational units and assign them to individual sites for each day of the week. A range is a grouping of tiers - for example a "London" range holds the tiers that London sites can be assigned to.
A tier is a group of recipes, and different tiers can hold different combinations of recipes or different closing ranges.
You assign each site a tier per day; a day left unassigned has no recipes available for production.
Everything is managed from one page: Settings > Production > Ranges & tiers.
Managing ranges and tiers requires Admin permissions
⚠️ If your production site is a CPU, you don't need to set up a range and tier - production recipes are defined by the CPU Product List instead.
Creating a range
Go to Settings and open the Production tab.
Select the Ranges & tiers tab.
Select + New range.
Name your range and save.
The new range appears in the range dropdown at the top of the page. Use the dropdown to switch between ranges, and Rename or Delete to manage the selected range.
Adding tiers and recipes
A range is made up of tiers, and each tier holds its own set of recipes. Sites are assigned to a tier, so how you split recipes across tiers - and how you set each tier's closing ranges - determines what each site can produce.
Adding a tier
With your range selected, go to the Tiers section.
Select + Add tier.
Each tier is listed with a count of how many recipes it contains. Use the pencil icon to rename a tier and the bin icon to delete it.
Adding recipes to a tier
Select the arrow to expand the tier.
Select + Add recipes.
Search for recipes and tick each one you want to add. Use Select all to add everything in the list, or Reset to clear your selection.
Select Add.
To remove a recipe, select the bin icon next to it. You can undo a removal from the confirmation message.
💡 If a recipe doesn't appear in the list, check that count in stocktake is enabled on that recipe. Once enabled, it becomes available to add to a tier.
Production tags
Production tags sit against each recipe in a tier and show what the recipe is used for.
Expand a tier and select a tag beneath a recipe to toggle it on or off. The available tags are Breakfast, Opening, Morning, Closing, Flexible, and Must stock.
🧠 Most tags are visual flags except for Opening, Morning and Closing.
Opening and Morning
These also affect planning: a recipe with either tag is excluded from being moved to P2 (or other future fixed productions) when less than half the minimum batch size is forecast for P1.
Closing
Each recipe in a tier can have a closing tag and quantity set - the quantity you want available to sell as the site closes.
Expand the tier and find the recipe.
Select the pencil next to Closing range.
Set the quantity and select Save.
Assigning sites to tiers
Site assignment is managed in the Site assignment section at the bottom of the same page. The grid lists your sites down the side and the days of the week across the top, and each cell shows the tier that site produces from on that day. Changes save as you make them, and each change can be reversed with Undo from the confirmation that appears.
Use Filter sites to search, Only sites in [range] to show just the sites already using the selected range, and the expand icon in the top right to open the grid in a larger, full-week view.
⚠️ A day left Unassigned has no recipes available for production at that site.
Assigning one site
Find the site's row and, for each day, use the dropdown to choose the tier it should produce from, or leave it Unassigned.
Assigning several sites at once
To set the same tier across multiple sites in one go:
Open Select sites and tick the sites you want (or use Select all). The grid collapses to a single row summarising your selection.
Optionally open Select days to limit the change to particular days.
In each day's dropdown, choose the tier to apply. It's assigned to every selected site for that day at once.
Where the selected sites don't currently share the same tier for a day, that day shows Multiple instead of a single tier, until you set one.
Hubs and spokes
For hub-and-spoke setups, a recipe appears in the Production Planner for a spoke site only if it is included in both the spoke's range and the hub's range.
Troubleshooting
A recipe is in the tier but isn't showing in the Production Planner.
Check the recipe's production visibility for the site.
