Open and Busy Button Guide

Q1: Where can I find the Open and Busy buttons?

Go to your eMenu dashboard and open either:

Live Order Manager

or

Live Screen

You will see the Open and Busy buttons at the top of the page.

Q2: How do I turn off online ordering when we are too busy or need to stop taking orders?

Click the Open button at the top of the screen.

You can then close the site so customers cannot place online orders.

Use this when:

You are too busy to accept more orders

The kitchen needs to pause orders

You are temporarily closed

There is an issue with staffing, stock or service

Once the site is closed, customers will not be able to place online orders.

Q3: Will online ordering turn back on automatically?

Yes. If you close online ordering manually, it will turn back on automatically according to your next scheduled opening time.

For example, if you close the site today, it will reopen automatically based on the next day’s schedule.

Q4: How do I tell customers the kitchen is busy but still accept orders?

Use the Busy button at the top of the Live Order Manager or Live Screen.

This allows you to keep accepting orders while informing customers that there may be a delay.

Q5: When should I use the Busy button?

Use the Busy button when:

The kitchen is very busy

Orders are taking longer than usual

You still want to accept online orders

You want customers to know there will be a delay before they place their order

This helps set clear expectations for customers.

Q6: How do I set a delay for customers?

Click the Busy button at the top of the page.

Then choose the delay time based on your current service needs.

For example, you can set a delay of:

15 minutes

30 minutes

Or another available delay time

Customers will then be informed that the kitchen is busy and their order may take longer than usual.

Q7: What is the difference between Open and Busy?

Use Open when you want to stop accepting online orders.

Use Busy when you still want to accept orders but need to warn customers about a delay.

Q8: What should staff do during busy periods?

If the kitchen cannot take any more orders, close online ordering using the Open button.

If the kitchen can still take orders but needs more time, use the Busy button and set the correct delay.

This helps avoid customer complaints and keeps service running smoothly.
