Summary
In this guide we will give an overview on how to open a new document within Eve to help draft complex letters and documents. This process will help you create a working document in Eve, edit and iterate on parts or all of your document.
For the full overview on how to draft and iterate on complex letters and documents with Eve, click here.
Option 1: Open a blank text document
To open a plain, “Text” document in Eve, select the button in the left panel in your Session.
Click on the “Text” tab in the pop-up window.
You will now be able to name this document. You have the option of entering text into the document in the “text” window, or leave it blank to generate a blank document.
Once you’ve named the document, click “add”, to add it to your Session.
Now you can start to work on this document, typing text into the window, just as you would with any other text editor. You can copy-paste responses that Eve has given you into this document, and then keep editing them to achieve the results that you want.
Option 2: Have Eve draft and save to your Session
You can also add a document to your Session after you’ve worked with Eve to generate responses. When you ask for Eve to draft you content, add the following to the end of your message:
💬 Example Message (ending): …Place the results in a code block.
By adding this to your message, Eve will provide the response in a code block that you can then:
Save to Matter
Download as file (csv for table, docx for code blocks)
Copy
The “Save”button at the top of the table will allow you to save the results Eve gave you to the Session.
When you click the “Save” button, a pop-up will open prompting you to enter a name for this new file. It will also show you the full contents of the text that you will be saving. You can edit the text here, or edit once it has been saved as a document in your Session.
Click “Add” once you are satisfied with the name. Eve will automatically open this document in the left half of your screen. You can now continue to edit the document and iterate with Eve on sections of it.
You should now be set to take next steps in drafting and editing your document in Eve.
