I am not on the Lite plan why am I being charged for giving out complimentary tickets?
I am not on the Lite plan why am I being charged for giving out complimentary tickets?
Updated over 5 months ago

We recognize that not all tickets originate from paying customers. Often, we distribute tickets to family, friends, and occasionally to our employees. Our Lite plan doesn't include a monthly subscription fee, but it incurs a $1 fee for each ticket, regardless of whether it's a paid ticket or a complimentary one.

Regarding our Standard and Professional plans, they come with a monthly subscription fee but offer lower ticket fees and do not incur charges for complimentary tickets. These plans are an ideal fit for free events.

If you find yourself on either the Standard or Professional plan and notice that you were billed for adding a complimentary ticket, it usually means that a regular (non-free) ticket was inadvertently selected when adding the complimentary ticket.

Important Note: A free ticket is any ticket with a price of $0. Tickets purchased with discount/promo codes that reduce the total cart price to $0 are not considered free tickets, and ticket fees will be included.

So what can we do to make sure that you are not charged for complimentary tickets?

Let me show you!

1. Navigate to the event dashboard and click on "Event settings."

2. On the Event settings page, click on the Tickets tab, then click "Add a Ticket type."

3. This will take you to a page where you can create a ticket variant. You can name it anything you like, but for this example, we'll use "Complimentary."

4. Set the price to $0 and make sure that the "Available on the online store is unchecked."
This will not show on your storefront for customers to purchase, but this will give you the option to use the ticket to add complimentary tickets and not be charged a ticket fee.

5. Once you are done, click on "Save."

Once you click on Save this will now show as a ticket variant on the ticket settings.

You now should be able to use this variant to add complimentary tickets.
