Congratulations on booking your first shift. Here's what to expect.
Before you go, check the details in the app: the address, the start time, and how long it takes to get there. Give yourself more time than you think you need on the first visit, because finding the entrance and parking can take longer than you expect.
Bring photo ID. You'll also find your Digital ID in your Florence profile, which shows the care home who you are and what you're registered as.
Wear what you'd normally wear for the role, and bring anything you'd usually carry, such as your own watch or shoes.
When you arrive, ask for the manager or the nurse in charge. Tell them you're the Florence worker for the shift. They'll sign you in, show you round, and give you a handover.
There is no clock-in or clock-out in the app. Your timesheet appears after the shift, and you fill it in then.
During the shift, ask if you're unsure about anything. Nobody expects you to know a new building on day one, and asking is safer than guessing.
Afterwards, open your timesheet and check the times. If you started or finished at a different time from the booking, change it before you send it for approval.
You'll be rated after your shift on things like punctuality, safety and care. Your first rating helps care homes decide whether to invite you back.
