Use the Voter Registration category in the Basic Counts and Advanced Counts tools for filtering voters by Registration Status and date range searches for Registration Date and Last Voter Activity Date, when provided in the voter data.
Registration Status
Each state database contains registered voter records as provided in the latest voter file, with the following Registration Status values. Regulations to determine inactive and cancelled voter status vary by state jurisdiction.
Active/Registered: the voter record contains recent activity
Inactive: no new voter activity has been recorded for a designated period
Cancelled: the voter's record has been identified as "cancelled" due to a written request or a period of inactivity
Unknown: the registration status is not provided or is undefined
Unregistered: the person is not registered to vote, but the record is added as a "Registration Prospect" for voter contact projects
Registration Date
Most state voter files provide a Registration Date, which usually indicates when the voter record was added to the jurisdiction's voter file.
Last Voter Activity
Some state voter files provide a Last Voter Activity date, which usually indicates when the voter record was last updated in the jurisdiction's voter file. Updates may include the last time the voter cast a ballot in an election or changes for the voter's name or address. Note: The Last Voter Activity category is hidden for states which do not provide this value.
Using the Registration Date/Last Voter Activity date range
From Basic Counts or Advanced Counts, go to Voter Registration and select either Registration Date or Last Voter Activity (when provided) to add into your count criteria. Follow the prompts to add a starting and ending date to filter your voter list.
