At Forento, weâve made it easy for anyone to turn their knowledge and expertise into scaleable products. As a creator, you can offer essentially any sort of information-based product and have it sold, distributed, and delivered right on your own platform.
The truth is, that almost all sorts of files, formats, and content can be delivered within a course, but to help you craft irresistible offers, Forento has a few different product types available. The available formats are:
đ Courses, perfect for video or text-based training programs
đ„ Downloadables, perfect for e-books or worksheets
đ„ Sessions, for one-on-one coaching sessions
đ Events, for in-person or online events
đ„ Videos, for pay-for-access videos, separate from courses
In this article, weâll cover the core aspects of each of the different product formats and go through what sort of content can be sold for each. Weâll also cover basic pricing for products.
đ Courses
When creating a Course on Forento, youâll be able to set up chapters, which act as modules of content. Each chapter can have as many pages of content as youâd like, but we usually recommend keeping it short and digestible, for user-experience.
Pages within a chapter can be one of four formats: Video, Text, Quiz, or Input. Depending on what sort of content youâre looking to add to your course, youâll be able to pick between the four. All formats have room for a page title and text, as well as any external link or file attachment.
The different formats for course pages are:
đșVideo page
Allows you to upload any video directly from your computer to the course. Thereâs no limit to how long the video can be or its quality. Bonus: You can also upload audio files here!
đText page
For text pages, youâll be able to enter a title, and text and upload an image. You can choose to either display the image in full or have it shown as a banner.
âQuiz page
You can test your student's knowledge by adding a multiple-choice question to your course. Theyâll need to choose the correct answer to move forward.
đInput page
Similarly to forms, Input pages allow you to collect information from your students. Rather than supplying options to choose from, you can ask a question and have your students answer it in clear text.
đ„ Downloadables
Some digital downloads go best as free resources within a course, others are so good they need a place of their own.
With Downloadables, youâre able to sell essentially any digital download product, a range of what weâve seen become popular on Forento platforms during the past year are:
E-books & general PDFs
Financial models for Excel
Journaling Templates
Canva templates
When creating a downloadable, you can either upload a file directly from your computer or enter a link. Adding a link is a great option if the product is for example a Canva or WordPress template. The file or link wonât be accessible to anyone until theyâve successfully paid for it, on your platform.
đ„ Sessions
The Sessions format is a perfect way to offer service-based products on your platform. Rather than selling something on-demand (such as courses, downloadables, and videos), you can have your members pay you for coaching sessions or consulting.
The Sessions feature is built to work for all sorts of setups. Meaning, that you can design the process of redeeming a session freely. For example:
You can have it be a manual process, where you ask your members to reach out to you to schedule a time that works for both.
Or you can attach a calendar link (Such as Calendly or TidyCal), or link directly to a digital meeting (Such as Zoom or Google Meet) in the product itself, and have members self-service schedule a time with you.
đ Events
With Events, you can schedule both free and paid happenings on your platform. They can be either online events, such as a webinar, or in-person events.
When setting up an event youâll be able to enter a time & date, location, and other details. Itâll be displayed directly on your platform, and any of your members whoâve paid (if the event isnât free, that is) will be able to add it to their own external calendars (Such as iCal or Google Calendar) in a single click.
Most use the Events Feature for pre-scheduled group coaching sessions or webinars.
đœïž Videos
Youâre also able to sell individual videos on your platform. Most creators on Forento use the Videos feature as a place to host content that is separate from the content in their courses.
For example, you could upload recordings of your events or webinars and upload them as videos, and that way those who couldn't attend still have a chance to join in.
Videos can be both paid and free, but also open for non-signed-in visitors on your platform.
đ° Pricing
Some creators have tens of thousands of active subscribers who pay them a few dollars every month, whereas others are selling individual masterclass courses for thousands of dollars apiece. Weâve built Forento in a way so that you can decide how you want to get paid.
Any on-demand product (Downloadables, Courses, and Videos) can be published for free, meaning anyone who signs up for your platform as a default member would be able to access it. Itâs usually a great way to get interested visitors through the door to later convert into paying customers.
For these products, you can also set a purchase price. When someone purchases the product for a one-off price, theyâll have access to it forever. If youâd rather make recurring revenue, you can include the products in a membership tier and have people pay per month or year for access. Most creators offer both individual products and subscription memberships, as it allows the customer to pick the model that works best for them.
When creating an Event, you can either leave it free or set a ticket price. Members will be able to see the instructions, and location/meeting link first after theyâve paid, if offered as a premium product.
Sessions require a set price above $0. If youâd like to offer a free session, thereâs no need for the feature. You can share the session information (such as your Calendly link, for example) in a community post, course page, or anywhere else where qualified visitors would engage.
