Introduction

Videos on Forento act as its own product format, just like Courses and Downloadables. Even though videos are usually included in course content, you can use this format to share or sell individual videos that are separate from your main pieces of training.

Many creators on Forento use the Videos feature to:

  • Sell access to individual videos

  • Share free video resources with their platform members

  • Upload recordings of webinars & events

How to upload videos to your platform

To create a Video, you first need to go to: https://app.forento.io/videos and then click "Upload video".

Once you've done this, you'll be able to enter details for your Video.

The information you can add for your Video is a Title, Short description, Description, Price, and Tags.

Title: A name for your Video

Short description: A short description where you're able to summarize the Video in a sentence or two.

Description: Longer than the short description, and accepts text edits such as bullet point lists, bold, italics, and more.

Tags: You can add tags to act as categories for members on your platform. This will help them find relevant videos, especially in case you've more than a handful.

Captions: Captions can be uploaded in either VTT (Video Text Track) or SRT (SubRip) files. Allowing you to easily attach captioning for your video. Here is a guide: How can I add captions for my videos?

Price & Availability

Under Price & Availability, you'll be able to select who gets access to your Video, and how. The different options for pricing are:

If you publish your Video as a Free product, it will be available to anyone who visits your platform, for free.

If you publish it as Signed in it'll be accessible to anyone who has an account for your platform. If they're on your platform as a non-signed-in member they will be asked to sign-up or log in to view the video.

If you publish your Video as Paid you'll be asked to set a fixed price. Anyone with an account on your platform will be able to purchase the Video for this price and access it forever. (Note that all prices are set to USD, but can be changed to any custom currency, full guide here: πŸ’Έ Changing the currency of your platform)

Membership pricing allows you to charge members per month or year, meaning they'll have a subscription fee to pay if they'd like to keep access. If you select this option, you'll be asked to pick what membership tiers the Video should be included in, if you've created any tiers yet.

The fourth option is Paid & membership. This allows you to set both a fixed, one-off price as well as include it in any of your membership tiers.
