Creators across the world sell digitally downloadable products through Forento every day. With Downloadables, you're able to sell essentially any digital download product, some products that we've seen become popular during the past years are:

When creating a Downloadable, you can either upload a file directly from your computer or enter a link. Adding a link is a great option if the product is for example a Canva or WordPress template or any other product that is not a file on your local system. The file or link won’t be accessible to anyone until they’ve successfully paid for it, on your platform.

To create a Downloadable, you must first go to https://app.forento.io/downloadables and then click "Create new".

Once you've done this, you'll be able to enter details for your product.

The information you must add for your product is a Name, Short description, Description, Thumbnail, File/link, and Price.

Name: A title for your product

Short description: A short description where you're able to summarize the value of your Downloadable product in a sentence or two.

Description: Longer than the short description, and accepts text edits such as bullet point lists, bold, italics, and more.

Thumbnail: An image for your Downloadable

Add file: A file from your computer or an external link.

Under Price & Availability, you'll be able to select who gets access to your Downloadable, and how. The different options for pricing are:

If you publish your Downloadable as a free product, it'll be accessible to anyone who signs up with an account for your platform. If they're on your platform as a non-signed-in member, and click "Download", they'll be brought to the sign-up page.

If you publish your Downloadable as Paid you'll be asked to set a fixed price. Anyone with an account on your platform will be able to purchase the product for this price and access it forever. (Note that all prices are set to USD, but can be changed to any custom currency, full guide here: 💸 Changing the currency of your platform)

Membership pricing allows you to charge members per month or year, meaning they'll have a subscription fee to pay if they'd like to keep access (not especially relevant for digital download products). If you select this option, you'll be asked to pick what membership tiers this product should be included in, if you've created any tiers yet, that is.

The fourth option is Paid & membership. This allows you to set both a fixed, one-off price as well as include it in any of your membership tiers.

You can edit your Downloadable after having published it. You can change the title, descriptions, thumbnails, and pricing. However, you can not swap out the file or link destination.

To edit your Downloadable, click "edit".
