How to insert a SIM card into your EarthRover

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Your EarthRover needs a nano SIM card (the smallest SIM size) to connect to 4G and stream video. Follow the steps below based on your model.

EarthRover Mini

  1. Locate the SIM card slot

    • Look at the back of the bot, where you see the 3-word code and QR code.

    • Open the cover to reveal the SIM card slot.

  2. Insert the SIM card

    • Use a nano SIM.

    • Place the SIM facing downwards.

    • Gently push it inside until you hear a click — this means it’s seated properly.

  3. Remove the SIM card (if needed)

    • Press the SIM in gently.

    • It will pop out for easy removal.

EarthRover Mini+

The latest Mini+ model features two SIM card slots—one located at the top and another at the bottom, separated by a yellow plastic divider. While the bot comes with two SIM slots, it can only accommodate one SIM at a time.

Here's how to insert the SIM:

1. Locate the SIM card slot

  • Look at the back of the bot, where you see the 3-word code and QR code.

  • Open the cover to reveal the SIM card slot

2. Insert the SIM card

  • Use a nano SIM.

  • Top slot: Place the SIM facing downwards.

  • Bottom slot: Place the SIM facing upwards.

  • Gently push it inside until you hear a click — this means it’s seated properly.

3. Remove the SIM card (if needed)

  • Press the SIM in gently.

  • It will pop out for easy removal.

EarthRover Zero

  1. Locate the SIM card slot

    • On the bottom side of the head of the bot, you’ll see a small slot labeled “SIM”.

  2. Insert the SIM card

    • Use a nano SIM.

    • Gently push the SIM in until you hear a click; that’s your confirmation it’s correctly inserted.

  3. Remove the SIM card (if needed)

    • Press the SIM gently.

    • It will eject automatically.

Tip: Ensure the SIM has an active data plan before inserting it. If your bot doesn’t connect after inserting the SIM, check our SIM Troubleshooting Guide.
