Sometimes just viewing your products in Genie isn't sufficient. There are times when you may need to export all or parts of your catalog to get a better look at what you're dealing with.

So, we have made this quick explainer on how to export products from Genie.

If you are planning on exporting all of your products or a very specific group of them that may be difficult to filter for, you can skip step one.

Step 1: Filter your products. Make sure that you have the correct products visible before you start exporting.

For example, if you want to export grade-A products, filter for grade. Alternatively, if you want products that are stocking out in 30 days with no incoming units and are grade B or higher make sure to set those filters before selecting the products. This ensures that your export only contains products pertinent to your analysis.

Step 2: Adjust columns. This step is especially important. Exporting products with irrelevant metrics is like asking a directionally challenged person how to get to the highway—not especially helpful. So make sure that you have adjusted your columns to display the information you need.

Additionally, if you want to see all data relevant to the products you are exporting you can select Show All. This will make all columns visible in the export.

Continuing with the example above. If you are exporting A/B-grade products that are running out in 30 days with no incoming units you may need to include:

  • Stockout date

  • Grade

  • Supplier

  • Avg. daily sales

Step 3: Select your products. This is the most important step. Regardless of how many products you are exporting, you must always make a selection. Otherwise, you won't be able to select the export button.

Step 4: Click export. Once you have made your selection, you can go ahead and click the export located in the top right corner.

Genie will then prompt you with three options for exporting:

  • Selected

  • Current page

  • All variants.

By choosing selected you will be exporting only the products you have selected on your inventory table—nothing more, nothing less.

The current page option, on the other hand, will export all products that are showing on the page you are looking at. So, if you were on page 5, this option would only export page 5.

Alternatively, you can also choose to export all variants. This option, as it says, will export everything from your inventory—selected or not. Each option has its use cases, and for the most part, if you aren't selecting a specific batch of products, you will most likely be choosing to export everything.

Now, that you have made your decision, a CSV file will download with all of the related products and metrics. And there you have it, you've successfully exported your products.
