Integrating CLARA with Lever

Connect CLARA with Lever to automatically screen candidates, generate CLARA scores, and enrich profiles.

Introduction

This guide explains how to connect CLARA with Lever. This integration allows you to automatically screen candidates, reduce unintentional bias with built-in de-identification, and collaborate with your team — all without leaving Lever.

Use this guide if your team uses both CLARA and Lever as part of your recruiting workflow.

What you'll need before getting started

Before starting, make sure you have:

  • Partner Admin access in CLARA

  • Lever Admin account credentials

  • Active jobs in Lever published as "External job site"

⚠️ Note: Without the permissions above, you will not be able to complete the setup.

How to connect CLARA with Lever

Part 1: Connect

  1. Log into CLARA using your Partner Admin credentials and go to Settings → Integrations. Click Add New Integration.

  2. Select Lever from the list and click Connect to ATS.

  3. In the modal that appears, sign into your Lever Admin account.

  4. Review the requested permissions and click Accept to authorize the integration.

Part 2: Configure

  1. Configure Candidate Processing. By default, CLARA processes all candidates including those previously rejected or archived. Toggle Do not process prior rejected candidates if you want to exclude them. We recommend keeping this toggled off to ensure full candidate insights.

  2. Configure Map Actions. Toggle Map action between Lever and CLARA to enable status synchronization. Click Next: Follow-up Questions.

    ⚠️ Note: Changing a candidate's status in Lever will update their status in CLARA, but changing a status in CLARA will not update Lever.

  3. Select which Lever candidate statuses should trigger CLARA follow-up questions, then click Submit.

What syncs between CLARA and Lever

Once enabled, the integration will:

  • Sync jobs from Lever into CLARA

  • Sync candidates from Lever into CLARA for screening and scoring

  • Add CLARA match scores as notes on the candidate's opportunity in Lever

  • Apply CLARA status tags to candidates in Lever: CLARA pre_qualified, CLARA qualified, CLARA not_qualified

  • Update the candidate's CLARA status when their status changes in Lever

The integration does not update candidate status in Lever when changed directly in CLARA — status sync is one-way: Lever → CLARA only.

🚫 How to disconnect Lever from CLARA

  1. In Lever, go to Settings → Integrations and API.

  2. Select the Authorized Apps tab.

  3. Locate the CLARA app and click Revoke access.

⚠️ Note: Disconnecting this integration will stop all future data syncs. Existing data will remain in CLARA unless manually removed.
