Connect CLARA with SmartRecruiters to automatically screen, score, and sync candidate resumes and insights — so you can make smarter hires faster.
👋 Introduction
This guide explains how to connect CLARA with SmartRecruiters. Once integrated, CLARA will automatically screen and score candidates, with insights pushed back directly into SmartRecruiters.
Use this guide if your team uses both CLARA and SmartRecruiters as part of your recruiting workflow.
🧰 What you'll need before getting started
Before starting, make sure you have:
Partner Admin access in CLARA
SmartRecruiters Admin account access
Note: Without the permissions above, you will not be able to complete the setup.
🧭 How to connect CLARA with SmartRecruiters
Part 1: Connect
Log into your SmartRecruiters account. Click your profile icon (top right), then go to Settings / Admin.
Scroll down and select API / Credentials under Configuration.
Click Generate New API Key.
Name the key (e.g.,
CLARA Integration Key), click Generate Key, and copy and save it in a secure location. You will not be able to view it again.Log into CLARA and go to Settings → Integrations → SmartRecruiters. Paste your API key into the provided field.
Click Connect to ATS.

Part 2: Configure
Configure Candidate Processing. Select which SmartRecruiters jobs you'd like CLARA to track.
Configure Map Actions. Toggle the switch to enable CLARA to synchronize statuses with SmartRecruiters. Click Next: Follow-up Questions.
Configure Follow-up Questions. Select which candidate stages should trigger CLARA follow-up questions. You can add and edit questions later.
Click Submit.
📌 What syncs between CLARA and SmartRecruiters
Once enabled, the integration will:
Sync open jobs from SmartRecruiters into CLARA as they are added
Sync candidates from SmartRecruiters into CLARA for screening and scoring
Push CLARA candidate scores and insights back into SmartRecruiters
