Adding Custom Nutrition Information

You can add the nutrition information from your ingredients own label to your meez ingredient. Here is how.

Can't find a USDA equivalent that matches your ingredient? Add the specific nutrition information directly to you are ingredient!

  • From a recipe, click Edit and select the Nutrition tab.

  • Scroll down to the recipes list of ingredients and click the pencil icon next to the ingredient.

    • This will open the nutrition modal.

  • From the ingredients page navigate to the Nutrition tab and click Get Started!

  • If this is the first time the ingredient is being linked to nutrition information, choose the "Use custom nutrition values" button and click continue.

  • Next enter your nutrition information directly from your ingredients label.

    • Note every section must be filled in, if you don't know or the label doesn't provide the information enter a zero.

    • Exact numbers must be entered, % or <> symbols cannot be entered and would not work with exact nutrition calculations.

    • Need to enter a fraction like 1/2 cup or 1/3? Please enter the decimal number amount. For example: 0.5 cup or 0.333 cup.

Important: The Serving Weight section must be filled in with an amount. Entering zero in this section will not calculate the ingredients nutrition properly.

  • Once all the information is filled out click continue.

  • Optional: Enter allergens for your ingredient if any.

    • Click on all that apply and click continue.

  • Enter a display name for the ingredient to appear on the label.

    • To show the ingredients original name, enter that here, and click continue.

  • The new custom information is now entered. To see the nutrition label for the ingredient click on and go to the ingredients page and click on the nutrition tab.

Can I edit or update the nutrition information once submitted?

Yes, you can update, edit or completely clear nutrition data from your ingredients.

  • From a recipe, open the nutrition modal again by clicking the edit pencil.

  • On the ingredients page, click the Edit button, and from the nutrition tab click the the Edit link on the top right of the label area.

  • Once the modal is opened, simply click on the section you want to edit!

    • You can re-do the entry method, changing a USDA connection to a custom one.

    • Click Allergens to add or remove allergy information.

    • Select Custom Values to edit any of the custom nutrition information previously entered.

    • Select Display name to edit the name that appears on the label.

    • Or to remove all current nutrition information and start over on this specific ingredient, click the red "Clear all" link on the bottom left of the modal.
