When vendor invoices come into meez through invoice processing or a spreadsheet import, some items arrive with a vague unit of measure like Case, Bushel, or Bag. meez doesn't automatically know what's inside that case, so you'll need to define it. Once you do, meez will remember that definition the next time the item comes in on a future invoice.
This is done through the New Purchase Item table, and it works a bit differently from creating a custom purchase UoM manually on an ingredient.
Before you start: The purchase item needs to still be in the New Purchase Item table with its purchase UoM highlighted in red. Once the item has been resolved or removed from the table, you won't be able to add a pack size from this view.
To add a pack size:
Go to the New Purchase Item table on the Owner account home page.
Find the item with the undefined unit of measure highlighted in red.
Click on the highlighted unit (for example, "case").
From the dropdown, select Add a pack size.
Enter the quantity and unit that describes what's in that container. For example, if you receive a case of 24 cucumbers, enter 24 for the quantity and each for the unit.
Click Add a pack size to confirm.
The purchase item will now be fully defined. Going forward, if that vendor item comes in on a future invoice as "case," meez will automatically know that case equals 24 each and apply it to your costing.
