How do I use the In-App Chat Agent?

Written by Camila

What it does: The in-app chat lets you perform any platform action using natural language, with no need to click through menus.

How to access it

There are three ways to open the chat:

  • Home page: the chat is front and center when you enter Spear. Just type in the composer to start a conversation. The quick-action buttons below it (see below) help you get started faster.

  • First tab in the left menu: opens the chat in full view. Start a new conversation or pick up a recent one.

  • Right-panel chat: available on every page. Click the chat icon on the right side of any screen to open it inline, so you can ask for something without leaving what you're doing.

Quick-action buttons under the composer

Under the composer you'll find four quick-action buttons:

What you can do with it

  • Move prospects between campaigns

  • Change prospect statuses

  • Build and launch campaigns

  • View and update your Profile Settings: the chat can see all three tabs, and what it can change follows your permission level, same as in the platform

  • Read data from a connected Salesforce or HubSpot account

  • Get a summary of campaign performance

  • Ask questions about your data

  • Export specific prospect lists

  • Create a new document and save it straight to your Documents Library

The available actions are only limited by what you ask. If something doesn't work as expected, contact support.

Managing your chats

  • Recent chats are behind the clock icon in the top right. Open it to see your chat history, grouped by Today, Yesterday, and Previous 7 days.

  • Search your recent chats from the same panel to find an earlier conversation.

  • Rename or delete recent chats from the chat history panel.

  • Messaging instructions and Qualification rules are found under your agent in the left panel.

Recent improvements

  • Faster responses: the chat now warms up in advance, so the first reply in a conversation comes back quicker

  • Shorter answers: the chat now gives more concise responses

  • Fewer confirmation prompts: the chat no longer asks for repeated approvals on every action

  • Smarter model: upgraded to GPT-5.5 for more accurate responses

  • Cleaner campaign and prospect views: when campaigns or prospects are part of the chat's response, they're now shown in an easy-to-read format instead of plain text

  • Clickable option buttons: when the chat's response includes several options to choose from, they're now shown as clickable buttons instead of plain text

  • Profile Settings access: the chat can now see all Profile Settings and change them based on your permissions
