How to Use a CRM List to Power a Campaign

How to bring a saved CRM list or segment into Spear and use it to power a campaign.

Written by Amir Maoz

Your HubSpot or Salesforce integration keeps your CRM in sync with outreach that already happened in Spear — but it doesn't pull a CRM list into Spear as campaign targets. To run a campaign against a CRM segment (a saved list, a report, a set of re-engagement leads, event registrants, etc.), export it and upload it as a list, the same way you would any other prospect or company list.

This is different from your CRM sync

The HubSpot/Salesforce integration is built for two things: writing engaged prospects back into your CRM, and reading exclusions (so you don't prospect accounts you're already working). It does not import a CRM list as a targeting source for a new campaign — that's what this workflow is for.

How to do it

  1. In HubSpot or Salesforce, export the list, view, or report you want to target as a CSV (contacts for a prospect-level list, or accounts/companies for a company-level list).

  2. In Spear, upload the CSV:

  3. When prompted, create (or select) a Prospects List Only campaign and attach the list to it — this campaign type targets exactly the list you uploaded, with no ICP filters and no auto-generated prospects added on top. See What are the campaign types in Spear? for how this campaign type compares to the others.

  4. Set your sequence and activate the campaign as usual.

When this is useful

  • Re-engaging a specific CRM segment (e.g. closed-lost from 12+ months ago)

  • Reaching a saved list or report you already built in HubSpot/Salesforce for another purpose

  • Combining with a custom message template for a one-off, consistent outreach to that exact group — see What is the difference between trigger-based and custom campaigns?
