Tracking your opt-in trends in WAX

3 habits for steering your consent strategy

In Analytics > Opt-in & Opt-out, WAX answers one specific question: is my opt-in collection progressing?

👀 The figures shown here only reflect new opt-ins and opt-outs recorded during the selected period (top right, e.g. Last 30 days), not the total number of opted-in contacts in your database. If you change the period, these figures change too, that's what lets you compare one period to another to see whether your collection is progressing.

The page reads in three blocks, from top to bottom:

  • Summary. Two cards side by side: New opt-ins and New opt-outs, each showing the total for the period, the % change versus the previous period, and the breakdown by channel (WhatsApp / RCS/SMS).

  • The chart. The opt-in (or opt-out) curve over the days, with the current period shown as a solid line and the comparison period as a dotted line, handy for spotting a spike or drop on a specific date.

  • Sources. A table detailing, source by source (automation or campaign name), the number of opt-ins and opt-outs generated. This is where you identify which collection lever (popup, flow, campaign...) performs best, or which source generates the most unsubscribes.

Three habits to keep

  1. Compare to the previous period Compare the period's figure to the previous period's figure. It's this comparison, not the isolated number, that reveals a trend.

  2. Identify the source of a rise in opt-outs If opt-outs increase, check the sources table to find where the movement is coming from. This lets you spot whether a specific automation or campaign is behind it.

  3. Check regularly Do this check at a regular interval (weekly or monthly) rather than just once. It's the repetition of the check that confirms a trend.

Exporting your opt-in data continuously

If you want to feed this data into your own CRM, data warehouse, or dashboard, WAX can automatically export Opt In (and Opt Out) events.

👉 Go to Settings > Data exports > WhatsApp or RCS, then open Opt In (or Opt Out) in the events list. This same export mechanism exists for other WhatsApp events (Sent, Delivered, Read, Clicked...), not just opt-ins.

On an event's export screen:

  • Active: turn on this toggle to start the recurring export. The Backfill button also lets you resend existing historical data, in addition to future events.

  • Sync frequency: the daily time (in UTC) at which WAX sends the new data.

  • Destination: choose the output channel among SFTP, Google Spreadsheet, or Webhook.

    • For SFTP: enter your server's hosting address, after first whitelisting WAX's IP addresses shown on screen; set the file name and the remote directory where exports should be dropped.

    • For Google Spreadsheet or Webhook: configuration is limited to connecting the destination, with no file/directory settings.

  • Include Contact Attributes: if needed, add one or more contact attributes to each exported row (e.g. email, first name).

  • Include Campaign and Automation names / Include Event Properties: these two checkboxes respectively add the name of the campaign/automation that triggered the event, and its detailed properties, to the export.
