If your grass has grown over 10 inches tall, here's how you can get it back under control using your free GreenPal account.

Steps to Handle Your Overgrown Lawn

  1. Understand the Cost: Generally, the cost for your first mowing of your overgrown lawn is about double to triple the usual rate from your lawn company you hire. After your initial cut, their pricing will most likely revert to their regular quote for weekly or bi-weekly mowings.

  2. Hire your Lawn Service: Choose and hire the lawn service you prefer using your free GreenPal account.

  3. Send them a Text with Pictures: Immediately after hiring, send a text message to your lawn service with a few pictures showing how tall your grass is. Every lawn business operates a little differently, so this helps them give you a firm price for your first lawn cut and avoids any surprises or delays.

  4. Expect their Upcharge: Be prepared for an upcharge regardless of whether the tall grass is in your whole yard or just certain areas. Any lawn company you hire will need to spend more time and effort to bring your lawn back to a manageable state.

  5. Initial Mowing Quality: Your first mowing most likely will not look perfect. Every lawn service is different, but it usually takes a few mowings to get an overgrown lawn back into good condition.

  6. Ongoing Services: After your first mowing, you will be enrolled in ongoing lawn services at their quoted rate. Note that Lawn Companies that pay to market their lawn business on the GreenPal network only accept clients who are committed to weekly or bi-weekly services for the season. One-time cuts are not available from any of the lawn companies paying to market their services on the GreenPal network.
