How to Add a Recurring Percentage-Based Fee (e.g., Fuel Surcharge)

This guide explains how to add a recurring, percentage-based fee, such as a fuel surcharge, to your services. This feature allows you to automatically apply a fee that is calculated based on the price of the services it is linked to.

Updated this week

  1. Navigate to the Pricing tab and select Fees from the side menu.

  2. Click the + New fee button in the top right corner.

  1. In the New Fee panel, select the appropriate Business line (e.g., Residential).

  2. Under Recurrence, select Recurring.

  1. In the Fee field, enter a descriptive name for your fee (e.g., "TEMP Fuel Surcharge").

  2. Ensure the Sub-item toggle is enabled. This makes the fee appear as a separate line item on invoices.

  3. In the Value section, click the % button and enter the percentage value for the fee.

  4. From the Pricing Period dropdown, select a billing frequency (e.g., Monthly). This must match the pricing period of the services you intend to apply the fee to.

  1. Enable the Auto-Link to Matched Services toggle to automatically apply this fee to all services that match the selected business line and pricing period.

  2. Click Create to save the new fee.

Tips

If you only want the fee to apply to specific services, you can leave the Auto-Link to Matched Services toggle disabled. After creating the fee, you can click the three-dot menu next to it in the fees list and select Link to manually choose which services it applies to.
