What happens to my data if I uninstall Atlas?

Published pages stay in your theme. Uninstalling does not cancel your subscription, and Shopify will still collect anything outstanding.

Uninstalling Atlas cancels your subscription. It also stops your Atlas features working: bundles and the cart drawer stop appearing, and your published pages need an active subscription to keep working. Shopify will still collect anything you already owe.

In this article:

Uninstalling cancels your subscription

Uninstalling the app cancels your Atlas subscription automatically. You do not need to cancel first to stop being billed for future cycles.

⚠️ Cancelling does not wipe out what you already owe. Shopify will still attempt to collect any outstanding bills, whether you close your store, cancel your account, or uninstall the app. Uninstalling stops the next charge, not the current one.

If you want to see your final amount before it is charged, cancel inside Atlas first, where the flow shows you the final charge notice. See How to cancel your Atlas subscription.

What stops working

Everything Atlas provides needs an active subscription, so all of it stops when the subscription ends:

  • Bundle offers stop appearing on your product pages, and their automatic discounts stop applying

  • The Atlas cart drawer stops appearing, and your theme's own cart returns

  • Pages Atlas published still load, but a subscription notice covers them, so visitors see that instead of your content

⚠️ This is the part merchants are most often surprised by, and your customers see it. The page files remain in your theme, but showing your content requires an active Atlas subscription. Uninstalling or cancelling is not a way to keep the pages you have already paid to build.

If you are leaving Atlas and want to keep those pages on your store, plan to rebuild or replace them in your theme before you go.

Your data

Atlas follows Shopify's standard app data protocols.

ℹ️ Keep your own copies of anything you will want again before uninstalling, particularly research documents. Reinstalling is not a guarantee that everything reappears.

For a specific request about your data, contact support from the chat bubble in Atlas, or at support@helloatlas.io.

Removing Atlas from your theme

Uninstalling the app does not tidy your theme. To remove what Atlas added:

  1. In your theme editor, open Theme settings, then App embeds, and turn off Atlas Page Builder and Atlas Cart Upsells.

  2. On your product template, remove the Atlas Bundler block.

  3. Remove or replace any pages Atlas published that you no longer want.

  4. In Shopify Discounts, delete any automatic discounts left behind by bundles.

Leftover automatic discounts count against Shopify's limit of 25 and can keep applying at checkout.

Reinstalling later

Reinstall Atlas from the Shopify App Store at any time and start a new subscription.

Whether your previous projects and configurations reappear depends on how long it has been and what was retained. Do not rely on it: if there is work you want back, keep your own copy before you uninstall.
