What happens after you cancel

Nothing is deleted. Your published pages stay live, your work is kept, and one final charge may process for the period you already used.

Written by Eddie Lavandera

Cancelling deletes nothing. The confirmation step says You can come back anytime — your assets (Stores, Pages, Bundles, Carts) are never deleted. But nothing deleted is not the same as nothing changed: every Atlas feature needs an active subscription to keep running on your storefront, including the pages you published. One final charge may process for the billing period you already used.

What stops working on your store

⚠️ This part is visible to your customers. An Atlas page still loads, but a subscription notice covers it, so a shopper who opens that page sees the notice instead of your product. The page itself is not deleted and stays in your theme, but it needs an active subscription to show your content.

What

After cancelling

Pages Atlas published

Still load, but a subscription notice covers the page. Your customers see the notice.

Bundle offers

Stop appearing, and their automatic discounts stop applying

The Atlas cart drawer

Stops appearing, and your theme's own cart returns

Plan for this before you cancel rather than after. If those pages are carrying traffic, or any ad is pointing at one, put a replacement on your store first. Otherwise you are sending paid traffic to a blocked page.

ℹ️ Pausing is different. A paused subscription keeps everything running on your storefront for the whole pause, at no cost. If you are stopping temporarily rather than leaving, pause instead. See How to pause your Atlas subscription.

What is kept in Atlas

Kept

Bundles and their offers

Cart drawer configurations

Projects, with their research, style reference and saved personas

Customer research documents and style references

Saved personas

Draft pages you never published

Your analytics history

All of it is still there if you re-subscribe.

What you can no longer do in Atlas

Inside Atlas, you lose access to:

  • You cannot generate new pages

  • You cannot publish pages

  • You cannot create or edit bundles

  • You cannot edit the cart drawer

  • Analytics stop updating

The final charge

Expect one more charge after cancelling, covering the billing period you are already in:

Heads up: one more charge ({amount}) may still process in the next 2 weeks.

This is Shopify's billing cycle finishing the current period — not an extra charge from Atlas. It's the last one; nothing bills after.

This is normal. Shopify bills app subscriptions in arrears for the period used, so cancelling mid-period leaves that period to settle.

Two exceptions:

  • Cancelling during a trial: no charge at all.

  • Cancelling from a paused subscription: no charge, because there is no active period to finish.

⚠️ Uninstalling the app does not avoid this. Shopify will still attempt to collect any outstanding bills you have yet to pay, regardless of whether you close your store, cancel your account, or uninstall the app.

Coming back

Re-subscribe at any time from the Atlas app in your Shopify admin.

Everything is where you left it: your projects, research, bundles, cart drawers and drafts. Bundles and the cart drawer need to be reactivated, but they do not need rebuilding.

If you cancelled during a trial with days remaining, those days stay available: Your remaining trial days stay available — resubscribe before they run out to use them.

If you also uninstall

Uninstalling cancels your subscription too, so either one stops future billing. Uninstalling additionally removes Atlas from your store, which has its own consequences.

Neither avoids a charge you have already run up. See What happens to my data if I uninstall Atlas?

Questions about a charge

If a charge appears that you do not expect, or does not match what you were told at cancellation, contact support from the chat bubble in Atlas, or at support@helloatlas.io, with your store URL, the charge amount and date, and when you cancelled. See Refunds, disputes and unexpected charges.
