⚠️ As of February 25, 2026, Atlas no longer generates or imports themes. If you already have the Atlas theme installed, your theme is unaffected and everything in this article still applies. New users can use Atlas to generate pages and import them into any Shopify theme.
The Atlas theme is customised in the Shopify theme editor like any other theme. This covers the settings merchants change most: brand colours, fonts, logo and favicon, header and footer, and the product page elements the theme provides.
To reach the editor: Online Store, then Themes, then Customize on the Atlas theme.

Working safely
💡 Duplicate the theme before making substantial changes. Work on the copy, preview it, and publish it only when you are happy. Your live store is never affected while you experiment.
Brand colours
In the theme editor, open Theme settings, then the colours section.
Set your primary, background and text colours here and they apply across the theme. Changing them in one place is far better than overriding colours section by section, which is how themes end up inconsistent.
ℹ️ These are the theme's colours. Pages Atlas generates carry their own palette, set in the Atlas editor. If a generated page does not match your theme, change the palette on that page in Atlas rather than fighting it here.
Fonts and typography
Also under Theme settings, in the typography section.
Set your heading font and body font. Shopify offers a font library, and some themes support custom font uploads.
Two headings and one body font is usually enough. More than that reads as inconsistent, and every additional font slows the page.
Logo and favicon
Logo is set in the header section, where you can usually also set its width.
Favicon, the small icon in the browser tab, is under Theme settings, in the favicon or branding section. Shopify recommends a square image, typically 32 by 32 pixels.
Use a transparent PNG for the logo so it works on any header background.
Header and footer
Both are sections in the theme editor's list.
Header typically offers layout, logo position, whether to show a search icon, and the announcement bar if the theme has one.
Footer typically offers menus, text blocks, payment icons, and social links.
Footer menus are edited in Online Store, then Navigation, rather than in the theme editor. This is where your policy links belong. See How to add legal pages and policies to your store.
Product page elements
The Atlas theme's product page includes elements built for conversion. Which ones you have depends on your theme version. Common ones:
Element | What it does |
Product rating | Star rating display |
Animated stars | Animated version of the rating |
Variant selector | How variants are presented |
Sticky add to cart | A button that follows the customer down the page |
Sale badge | Highlights discounted products |
Each is a section or block on the product template, configured in the theme editor.
ℹ️ Some product page settings interact with Atlas bundles. If your bundle is set to update the theme's displayed price or savings badge, that will override what the theme's own elements show. See Customizing how your bundle looks.
Saving and previewing
Changes save when you select Save in the theme editor, and apply immediately if you are editing the published theme.
Use the device toggle in the editor to check mobile, and preview on a real phone before publishing anything substantial.
